Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
This action is responding to the amendment filed on 6/17/2026.
Claims 1-36 are pending in the application.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-36 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Per claims 1, 7, 14, 22, and 28, it is unclear how the corresponding sub-operation is related to the matrix operations. Interpretation: a corresponding sub-operation of the plurality of mutually exclusive sub-operations. Per claims 2-6, 8-13, 15-21, 23-27 and 29-36, these claims are rejected because they depend on claims 1, 7, 14, 22, and 28 respectively.
Response to Arguments
Applicant’s arguments, filed on 6/17/2026 for the rejections under 101 with respect to claims 1-36 have been fully considered and are persuasive. The rejection under 35 U.S.C. 101 has been withdrawn.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1-36 are allowed.
The following is an examiner’s statement of reasons for allowance over prior arts: While Yu teaches performing neural network inference convolution calculations, acquiring a structure and parameters of a neural network; generating a directed acyclic graph of instructions for performing neural network computation according to types and dependency relationships based on the structure of the neural network; topologically sorting the directed acyclic graph to obtain instructions having a specific order; and generating binary instruction codes having the specific order for performing neural network computation by the computing system for performing high parallelism calculations, Espig teaches fast Fourier transform configuration and computation instructions with a matrix operations circuit including a two-dimensional grid, Redfern teaches a matrix multiplication accelerator in convolutional neural networks, executing the configured fundamental computational primitive, US 10884734 teaches acceleration of a matrix multiply accumulate operation and data loading, US 20150193233 teaches a compiler that improves performance by generating a set of interleaved operation wherein registers are loaded into an adder's input operand registers while a multiplication operation is in progress, ultimately the prior arts of record, taken alone or in combination, do not teach the subject matter recited in the claims: detect, in source code, structural information of one or more matrix operations and generate executable code to perform the one or more matrix operations based at least in part on the structural information, wherein the generated executable code comprises a plurality of mutually exclusive sub-operations of the one or more matrix operations, the plurality of mutually exclusive sub-operations interleaved with one or more data fetches to cause data for a corresponding sub-operation to be retrieved by one or more data fetch circuits.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure.
US 20150193233 teaches a compiler that improves performance by generating a set of interleaved operation.
Applicant's amendment necessitated the new ground(s) of rejection presented in this Office action. Accordingly, THIS ACTION IS MADE FINAL. See MPEP § 706.07(a). Applicant is reminded of the extension of time policy as set forth in 37 CFR 1.136(a).
A shortened statutory period for reply to this final action is set to expire THREE MONTHS from the mailing date of this action. In the event a first reply is filed within TWO MONTHS of the mailing date of this final action and the advisory action is not mailed until after the end of the THREE-MONTH shortened statutory period, then the shortened statutory period will expire on the date the advisory action is mailed, and any nonprovisional extension fee (37 CFR 1.17(a)) pursuant to 37 CFR 1.136(a) will be calculated from the mailing date of the advisory action. In no event, however, will the statutory period for reply expire later than SIX MONTHS from the mailing date of this final action.
