DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Continued Examination Under 37 CFR 1.114
A request for continued examination under 37 CFR 1.114, including the fee set forth in 37 CFR 1.17(e), was filed in this application after final rejection. Since this application is eligible for continued examination under 37 CFR 1.114, and the fee set forth in 37 CFR 1.17(e) has been timely paid, the finality of the previous Office action has been withdrawn pursuant to 37 CFR 1.114. Applicant's submission filed on 06/01/2026 has been entered.
Claim status
This action is in response to applicant filed on 06/01/2026.
Claims 1, 24-35, 37-46, 48-49, 72, 74-76, 78-80 are pending for examination.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 25-31 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Claim 25 recites the limitation "the one or more of the PS IPSI report elements" in Line 2. There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1, 24, 32-35, 37-46, 48-49, 72, 74-76, 78-80 are allowed in view of the art.
The following is an examiner’s statement of reasons for allowance:
Applicant teaches in claims 1, 24-35, 37-46 & 48 a method for a user equipment (UE) wireless communications performed by the UE, comprising:
determining a plurality of positioning state information (PSI) report elements, wherein each PSI report element comprises information related to positioning measurements performed by the UE,
compressing one or more of the PSI report element, wherein a level of compression for the information related to each type of positioning measurement is based on a positioning method performed by the UE;
generating a PSI report with the plurality of PSI report elements wherein one or more of the PSI report elements are compressed; and
transmitting the PSI report to a network entity in a lower layer channel container.
The closest prior art of record is Qualcomm (WO 2019/192527) in view of LG (US 2017/0289831) where it teaches a method for a user equipment (UE) wireless communications performed by the UE, comprising:
determining a plurality of positioning state information (PSI) report elements, wherein each PSI report element comprises information related to positioning measurements performed by the UE,
compressing one or more of the PSI report elements;
generating a PSI report with the plurality of PSI report elements wherein one or more of the PSI report elements are compressed; and transmitting the PSI report to a network entity in a lower layer channel container. However, the cited reference fail to individually disclose, or suggest when combined, wherein a level of compression for the information related to each type of positioning measurement is based on a positioning method performed by the UE
No prior art was found teaching individually, or suggesting in combination, all of the features of the applicants’ invention, specifically wherein a level of compression for the information related to each type of positioning measurement is based on a positioning method performed by the UE in combination with the recited structural limitations of the claimed invention.
Claims 49, 72, 74-76, 78-80 an its dependent claims are allowed for essentially the same reasons but the allowable subject matter is “using one or more compression configurations, and wherein a compression configuration is separately selected for the information related to each type of positioning measurement”.
