Office Action

§102
DETAILED ACTION Response to Amendment The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . This office action is responsive to the amendment received July 7, 2026. Claims 1, 4, 5, and 13 were amended. Claims 2, 3, 6, and 15-20 are cancelled claims. Claims 1, 4, 5, and 7-14 are pending. The rejection of claims 5-11, 13, and 17-20 under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention is withdrawn due to the amendment received July 7, 2026. The rejection of claims 1-4, 12, and 14-16 under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Saito et al. (US 2019/0081249 A1) is withdrawn due to the amendment received July 7, 2026. The rejection of claims 1-4, 12, and 14-16 under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Higuchi, T., Nakanotani, H. and Adachi, C. (2015), High-Efficiency White Organic Light-Emitting Diodes Based on a Blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Emitter Combined with Green and Red Fluorescent Emitters. Adv. Mater., 27: 2019-2023 is withdrawn due to the amendment received July 7, 2026. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claims 1, 4, 12, and 14 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Wu, Jun-Yi et al., ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (2018), 10(5), 4851-4859. Wu et al. discloses light emitting devices comprising the following TADF material, which is identical to a material of claim 1 and of claim 4 (see abstract): PNG media_image1.png 226 198 media_image1.png Greyscale . Regarding claim 1, as a material identical to a recited compound, the compound DMAC-TRZ is considered inherently to meet the recited properties in claim 1. Regarding claim 4, an example device was formed a light emitting layer comprising 10% of above DMAC-TRZ material (per instant thermally activated delayed fluorescence material), mixed host 26DCzPPy:TCTA (8:2 by weight) (per instant host material), and a percentage of further emitting dopant (per instant guest material) between an anode ITO and a cathode CsF/Al (see especially Figure 5 on pg. 4858 as well as full document). With respect to thermally activated delayed fluorescence material DMAC-TRZ, as a material identical to a recited compound, the compound DMAC-TRZ is considered inherently to meet the recited properties in claim 4. Regarding claim 12, light emitting layer dopant Ir(dpm)PQ2 is a phosphorescent material and dopant DCJTB is a fluorescent material (see Figure 5 on pg. 4858 as well as full document). Regarding claim 14, a light emitting device displaying light was obtained (see Figure 5 and full document). Allowable Subject Matter Claim 13 is allowed. Claims 5 and 7-11 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims. The prior art fails to teach or to render obvious the claimed feature of a hole blocking layer comprising the very specific compounds recited in claim 5 or as a hole blocking layer of a device of claim 13. Response to Arguments Applicant’s arguments with respect to the claims have been considered but are moot because the new ground of rejection does not rely on any reference applied in the prior rejection of record for any teaching or matter specifically challenged in the argument. Conclusion Applicant's amendment necessitated the new ground(s) of rejection presented in this Office action. Accordingly, THIS ACTION IS MADE FINAL. See MPEP § 706.07(a). Applicant is reminded of the extension of time policy as set forth in 37 CFR 1.136(a). A shortened statutory period for reply to this final action is set to expire THREE MONTHS from the mailing date of this action. In the event a first reply is filed within TWO MONTHS of the mailing date of this final action and the advisory action is not mailed until after the end of the THREE-MONTH shortened statutory period, then the shortened statutory period will expire on the date the advisory action is mailed, and any nonprovisional extension fee (37 CFR 1.17(a)) pursuant to 37 CFR 1.136(a) will be calculated from the mailing date of the advisory action. In no event, however, will the statutory period for reply expire later than SIX MONTHS from the mailing date of this final action.
