Drawings
The drawings were received on 03/22/23.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claim(s) 2-3 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102a1 as being anticipated by Rastegar et al 2020/0176999.
As to claims 2-3:
Rastegar et al disclose that it is known in the art to make a device for heating and charging energy storage devices such as battery or supercapacitors (0006) at very low temperature including a heating circuit for the energy storage device having a core with an electrolyte and having inputs and capacitance characteristics across the electrolyte and the core, and internal surface capacitance between the inputs for storing electric field energy between internal electrodes of the energy storage device that coupled/connected to the inputs, the battery heating circuit including a controller configured to switch between a positive input voltage and a negative input voltage provided to one of the inputs at a frequency (non-linear) sufficient to effectively short the internal surface capacitance of the energy storage device to generate heat and raise a temperature of the electrolyte, the controller being further configured to discontinue the switching when the temperature of the electrolyte and/or the energy storage device is above a predetermined temperature is considered sufficient to increase a charging efficiency of the energy storage device (Abstract; 0006-0009, 0017-0029, 0032, 0077, 0081-0085, 0089, 0091; see Claims 1-3, 8, 14 & 19; see Figures 9, 22, 27 & 30).
