DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Specification
The title of the invention is not descriptive. A new title is required that is clearly indicative of the invention to which the claims are directed.
Re. Title: The following title is suggested: --METHOD OF FIXING A PERMANENT MAGNET IN A ROTOR CORE--.
Re. CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS: The phrase “This application is a divisional application of non-provisional U.S. patent application No. 17/091,175, filed on Nov. 6, 2020,” appears to be --This application is a divisional application of non-provisional U.S. Patent Application No. 17/091,175, filed on November 6, 2020, now US PAT. 11,722,023,--.
Claim Objections
Claims 1-4 are objected to because of the following informalities:
Re. claim 1: The phrase “which a permanent magnet is” as recited in line 3 appears to be --which the permanent magnet is--.
Re. claim 3: The phrase “providing epoxy resin into” as recited in line 3 appears to be –providing an epoxy resin into--.
Appropriate correction is required.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claim 4 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
The phrase “the pressing portion forms a convex shape toward the permanent magnet” as recited in lines 1-2 renders the claim vague and indefinite. It is unclear as to whether the convex shape of the pressing portion is formed before the pressing process of after the pressing process. Clarification is required.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1-3 are allowed.
The following is an examiner’s statement of reasons for allowance: The prior art of record fails to disclose the claimed invention such as a process of fixing a permanent magnet in a rotor core, comprising steps of forming a magnet accommodation portion into which a permanent magnet is to be inserted and an internal hole defined in an area adjacent to one end of the magnet accommodation portion, inserting the permanent magnet into the magnet accommodation portion, performing a caulking process by inserting a bar into the internal hole, and pressing a pressing portion toward the permanent magnet using the bar, wherein the pressing portion is provided between the internal hole and the magnet accommodation portion. It is not obvious taken alone or in combination of other references fairly to suggest the claimed invention.
Any comments considered necessary by applicant must be submitted no later than the payment of the issue fee and, to avoid processing delays, should preferably accompany the issue fee. Such submissions should be clearly labeled “Comments on Statement of Reasons for Allowance.”
The Prior Art
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. Saito et al. (PGPub 2014/0217859 A1), Kano et al. (US PAT. 10,727,709), and Nakano et al. (US PAT. 9,800,100) are cited to further show the state of the art with respect to a method of fixing a permanent magnet in a rotor core.
