Office Action

§102
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . This office action is a response to the restriction requirement filed on 7/11/2025. Election/Restrictions Applicant’s election without traverse of Group II, claims 15-25, in the reply filed on 7/11/2025 is acknowledged. Claims 1-14 are withdrawn from further consideration pursuant to 37 CFR 1.142(b) as being drawn to a nonelected invention, there being no allowable generic or linking claim. Election was made without traverse in the reply filed on 7/11/2025. Drawings The drawings are objected to as failing to comply with 37 CFR 1.84(p)(5) because they include the following reference character(s) not mentioned in the description: The reference number “412” in Fig. 4 is not mentioned in the specification. Corrected drawing sheets in compliance with 37 CFR 1.121(d), or amendment to the specification to add the reference character(s) in the description in compliance with 37 CFR 1.121(b) are required in reply to the Office action to avoid abandonment of the application. Any amended replacement drawing sheet should include all of the figures appearing on the immediate prior version of the sheet, even if only one figure is being amended. Each drawing sheet submitted after the filing date of an application must be labeled in the top margin as either “Replacement Sheet” or “New Sheet” pursuant to 37 CFR 1.121(d). If the changes are not accepted by the examiner, the applicant will be notified and informed of any required corrective action in the next Office action. The objection to the drawings will not be held in abeyance. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claims 15, 24 and 25 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Ahn et al. (US PAT. 11,689,376). Ahn et al. teach a process of making a plurality of physical unclonable functions (PUFs), comprising steps of: obtaining an object (110e) comprising a structural feature as shown in Fig. 11; and dividing the object to transect the structural feature, thereby forming two PUFs (110e, 130e), wherein each of the two PUFs corresponding to a respective one of the plurality of PUFs and comprising a respective portion of the structural feature (col. 10, lines 31-41). Allowable Subject Matter Claims 16-23 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims. The Prior Art The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. Karpinskyy et al. (US PAT. 11,403,432), and Abeln et al. (US PAT. 11,277,271) are cited to further show the state of the art with respect to a process of manufacturing a plurality of physical unclonable functions.
