Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-5, 10-12 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Regarding claim 1, line 8, the term “the notion” lacks antecedent basis.
Regarding claim 2, line 2, the term “the iterative” lacks antecedent basis.
Regarding claim 3, line 2, the term “the iterative” lacks antecedent basis; line 3, the terms “the antennas index” and “the symbol estimates” lack antecedent basis; the term “their” is not clear to what it refers.
Regarding claim 4, line 2, the term “the greedy detections” lacks antecedent basis; lines 2-3, the term “the index vector” lacks antecedent basis; the term “the given finite set” lacks antecedent basis; line 4, the term “the confirmed values” lacks antecedent basis; line 6, the term “the currently decoded indices” lacks antecedent basis.
Regarding claim 5, line 1, the term “the notion” lacks antecedent basis.
Regarding claim 10, line 1, the term “the iterative” lacks antecedent basis.
Regarding claim 11, line 1, the term “the iterative” lacks antecedent basis; lines 2-3, the term “the positions of the antennas index” lacks antecedent basis; line 3, the term “their” is not clear to what it refers.
Regarding claim 12, line 1, the term “the greedy detections” lacks antecedent basis; line 2, the term “the index vectors” lacks antecedent basis; the term “the given finite set” lacks antecedent basis; lines 3-4, the term “the confirmed values” lacks antecedent basis; line 6, the term “the currently decoded indices” lacks antecedent basis; line 8, the term “the previous greedy selection” lacks antecedent basis.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1, 5 would be allowable if rewritten or amended to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action.
Claims 2-4, 10-12 would be allowable if rewritten to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action and to include all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter: none of the prior art discloses or suggests that a receiver and method of a communication system having a processor, volatile and/or non-volatile memory, at least one interface adapted to receive a signal in an communication channel, wherein the non-volatile memory stores computer program instructions which, when executed by the microprocessor, configure the receiver to perform operations comprising: wherein the notion of applying sparse detection, compressed sensing algorithms to decode spatial modulation signals is proceeded.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure.
Ozturk et al (US 2021/0359777) disclose a generalized frequency division multiplexing method with multiple-input multiple-output and flexible index modulation.
Xie et al (US 2020/0052935) disclose a receiver and receiving method using quadrature spatial modulation technology, and relevant wireless communication system.
Mesleb et al (U.S. Pat. 9,813,278) disclose a quadrature spatial modulation system.
