§102
CTNF 18/315,406 CTNF 89705 DETAILED ACTION Notice to Applicant 07-03-aia AIA 15-10-aia The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA. 07-06 AIA 15-10-15 In the event the determination of the status of the application as subject to AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103 (or as subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103) is incorrect, any correction of the statutory basis (i.e., changing from AIA to pre-AIA) for the rejection will not be considered a new ground of rejection if the prior art relied upon, and the rationale supporting the rejection, would be the same under either status. Claims 1-7 are pending. Priority 02-26 AIA Receipt is acknowledged of certified copies of papers required by 37 CFR 1.55. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 07-07-aia AIA 07-07 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – 07-08-aia AIA (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. 07-15 AIA Claim s 1 and 6 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102( a)(1 ) as being anticipated by Igarashi et al. US 2020/0066435 . As per claims 1 and 6, Igarashi et al. discloses in Figs. 1a, 1b, and 3 a coil component (e.g. coil component 1) comprising: as per claim 1, a drum core (e.g. drum shaped core 2) including a columnar winding core portion (e.g. winding core section 5) , a first flange portion (e.g. first flange portion 6) connected to a first end of the winding core portion (Fig. 1a, left end of axial direction D) in a direction along a central axis of the winding core portion (e.g. axial direction D) , and a second flange portion (e.g. second flange portion 7) connected to a second end of the winding core portion (Fig. 1a, right end of axial direction D) opposite to the first end; a first metal terminal (e.g. terminal 16) attached to the first flange portion; and a wire (e.g. wire 3) wound around the winding core portion and having a first connection end (e.g. connecting portion 24) joined to the first metal terminal (Paragraph 41; Wire 3 is connected to connecting portion 24 at the terminal 16.) , wherein an axis orthogonal to the central axis is defined as a first axis (e.g. vertical axis) , and one of directions along the first axis is defined as a first positive direction (e.g. downward direction along the vertical axis) , the first flange portion protrudes outward with respect to the winding core portion in the first positive direction (Fig. 3; The flange protrudes outward in the downward direction along the vertical axis.) , the first metal terminal includes: a bonding portion (Fig. 3, recessed portion 27) joined to the first flange portion with an adhesive (e.g. adhesive layer 26) interposed therebetween (Fig. 3; As shown, the portion 23 is bonded to the flange portion 6 via adhesive layer 26.) ; a mounting portion (Fig. 3, seat portion 20) located closest to a side of the first positive direction in the first metal terminal (Fig. 3; The seat portion 20 is located closest to a bottom side of the downward vertical axis direction.) ; and a coupling portion (Fig. 3, rising portion 23) connecting the bonding portion and the mounting portion (Fig. 3; Rising portion 23 connects portions 20 and 27 together.) , and the mounting portion is spaced from the drum core on the side of the first positive direction (Fig. 3; As shown, a gap exists between the seat portion 20 and winding core portion 5 on the bottom side of the downward vertical axis direction.) ; and as per claim 6, wherein when a direction from the first metal terminal toward the winding core portion in the direction along the central axis is defined as an inward direction, and a direction opposite to the inward direction is defined as an outward direction, the bonding portion is joined to a surface facing the inward direction or a surface facing the outward direction among outer surfaces of the first flange portion (Fig. 3; When a direction from the terminal toward the winding core in a left to right direction is defined as “an inward direction”, and a right to left direction opposite the “inward direction” is defined as “an outward direction”, the portion 27 is joined to a left surface of flange 6 which faces the outward right to left direction.) . Allowable Subject Matter 12-151-08 AIA 07-43 12-51-08 Claim s 2-5 and 7 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
