Claim Objections
Claim 5 is objected to because of the following informalities:
(a) Claim 5, line 2, typing error: “the first end surface” should be “a first end surface”.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1 and 5-6 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Arai (US 20200411228 A1).
Regarding Claim 1:
Arai teaches that a coil component comprising:
a base body (10, Fig. 1; para 0048-0055) made of a magnetic material and
having a mounting surface (10b, Fig. 1);
a first external electrode (22) provided on the mounting surface;
a second external electrode (21) provided on the mounting surface the second external electrode being spaced apart from the first external electrode(construed
from Fig. 1); and
a coil conductor (1) including a winding portion (25a, Drawing: 1) provided in the base body and
extending in a circumferential direction around a coil axis (X, Fig. 2), a first lead-out portion (right side 20 in Fig. 2) connecting between one end of the winding portion and the first external electrode, and a second lead-out portion (left side 20 in Fig. 2) connecting between another end of the winding portion and the second external electrode,
wherein the first lead-out portion includes a first top-side shaft portion (V11, Drawing: 1) extending from one end of the winding portion along the coil axis, a first bottom-side shaft portion (V12, Drawing: 1) located closer (construed from Drawing :1 i.e. d1<d2 in Drawing: 1) to the coil axis than the first top-side shaft portion and extending from the first external electrode along the coil axis, and a first connection portion (27) connecting between the first top-side shaft portion and the first bottom-side shaft portion.

Regarding Claim 5:
As applied to claim 1, Arai teaches that a portion of the winding (not labeled; see Drawing: 1) portion is exposed to an outside of the base body through the first end surface (10e, Fig. 1).
Regarding Claim 6:
As applied to claim 5, Arai teaches that the portion of the winding portion that is exposed through the first end surface is covered by an insulating film (not shown see para 0058 and 0071).
