Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claim(s) 1, 10-11 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Wang et al. (US 2023/0075643).
With regard to claim 1 Wang discloses:
A processor-implemented method (para 16), the method comprising: reordering a plurality of filters (Figs. 8-9: matrix reorder first reorders the rows (e.g., filters in CNN) by arranging the ones with the same or similar patterns together); based on a result of the reordering, compressing weights (compressing a deep neural network (DNN) model by DNN weight pruning; Para 37), among a plurality of weights of the plurality of filters (Fig.2), resulting in some of the plurality of weights being uncompressed weights (Fig.2, para 39) ; generating a plurality of operation unit maps by mapping the uncompressed weights (original matrix Fig. 9) to respective operation units according to a predetermined bulk unit; and mapping the plurality of operation unit maps to an array (Fig. 9).
With regard to claim 10 Wang discloses:
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform the method of claim 1 (para 25).
With regard to claim 11, Wang discloses:
An apparatus, the apparatus comprising: a processor (para 16) configured to: reorder a plurality of filters; based on a result of the reordering, (Figs. 8-9: matrix reorder first reorders the rows (e.g., filters in CNN) by arranging the ones with the same or similar patterns together) compress weights, (compressing a deep neural network (DNN) model by DNN weight pruning; Para 37), among a plurality of weights of the plurality of filters (Fig.2) , resulting in some of the plurality of weights being uncompressed weights (Fig.2 para 39); generate a plurality of operation unit maps by mapping the uncompressed weights (original matrix Fig. 9) to respective operation units according to a predetermined bulk unit; and map the plurality of operation unit maps to an array (Fig. 9).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 2-9 and 12-18 objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Claims 19-20 are allowed.
