DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Drawings
The drawings are objected to because of the following problems.
It seems that the reference number “5a” in Figure 6 is pointing at wrong object. The reference number “5a” is either pointing at the main body 1 or the insulating member 4.
The drawings are objected to under 37 CFR 1.83(a). The drawings must show every feature of the invention specified in the claims. Therefore, the outer insulating block having a plurality of adjusting portions must be shown or the feature(s) canceled from the claim(s). No new matter should be entered. The present drawings only show each of the outer insulating block having only one adjusting portion.
The drawings are objected to as failing to comply with 37 CFR 1.84(p)(5) because they include the following reference character(s) not mentioned in the description: “25” shown in Figure 6.
Corrected drawing sheets in compliance with 37 CFR 1.121(d) are required in reply to the Office action to avoid abandonment of the application. Any amended replacement drawing sheet should include all of the figures appearing on the immediate prior version of the sheet, even if only one figure is being amended. The figure or figure number of an amended drawing should not be labeled as “amended.” If a drawing figure is to be canceled, the appropriate figure must be removed from the replacement sheet, and where necessary, the remaining figures must be renumbered and appropriate changes made to the brief description of the several views of the drawings for consistency. Additional replacement sheets may be necessary to show the renumbering of the remaining figures. Each drawing sheet submitted after the filing date of an application must be labeled in the top margin as either “Replacement Sheet” or “New Sheet” pursuant to 37 CFR 1.121(d). If the changes are not accepted by the examiner, the applicant will be notified and informed of any required corrective action in the next Office action. The objection to the drawings will not be held in abeyance.
Specification
The title of the invention is not descriptive. A new title is required that is clearly indicative of the invention to which the claims are directed.
The following title is suggested: ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR REDUCING THE CHARACTERISTIC IMPEDANCE OF THE ELASTIC ARM OF EACH TERMINAL.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
In Claim 1, the structural relationship between the metal body 1 and a main body 21 wrapped by an insulating member 4 of the plurality of signal terminals 2 are not clear because while claim 1 recites that a contact portion 23 of an elastic arm 22 of the signal termina 2 is accommodated in an accommodating slot 11 of the metal body 1, claim 1 does not recite how the maid body 21 wrapped by the insulating member 4 of the signal terminal 2 is accommodated or coupled with the metal body 1. According to claim 1, nothing is holding the maid body 21 wrapped by the insulating member 4 of the signal terminal 2.
Claim 3 recites that each of the outer insulating block 5a has a plurality of adjusting portions 52. However, the drawings only show each of the outer insulating block 51 having only one adjusting portion 52 and not a plurality of adjusting portions 52. Since claim 3 is depended on claim 2, it is not clear how the plurality of adjusting portions 52 of the outer insulating block 5a will interact with just one contact portion 23 of the elastic arm 22 when the contact portion 23 pushes the adjusting portion 52 to move altogether toward the first metal wall 111.
Claim 11 reciting “a metal body” and claim 18 reciting “a body” also have the same problem of not having clear structural relationship with the main body portion 21 wrapped by the insulating member of the signal terminal 2 as stated above for claim 1.
Claim 18, line 3 recites, “a first wall”. However, claim 18 just lists the first wall 111. Therefore, it is not clear what the function of the first wall 111 is.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1, 11 and 18 would be allowable if rewritten or amended to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action.
