Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claim 7 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
112, the applicant), regards as the invention because it is unclear as to which initial feature of the target video frame “the initial feature of the target video frame” recited on lines 13 - 14, along with subsequent recitations of “the initial feature of the target video frame”, are referencing at least because lines 9 - 10 of claim 1, which recite, in part, “initial features of the target video frame;” (emphasis added) make it clear there are multiple initial features of the target video frame. Therefore, the Examiner asserts that it is unclear as to which initial feature of the multiple initial features of the target video frame “the initial feature of the target video frame” recited on lines 13 - 14 of claim 7, along with subsequent recitations of “the initial feature of the target video frame”, are referencing. Clarification and appropriate correction are required. For purposes of examination, the Examiner will treat the claim as referencing any initial feature of the multiple initial features of the target video frame.
The rejections to claims 1 - 6 and 8 - 20 under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, are hereby withdrawn in view of the amendments and remarks received 24 June 2026.
Response to Arguments
Applicant’s arguments with respect to claim(s) 1 - 20 have been considered but are moot because the new ground of rejection does not rely on any reference applied in the prior rejection of record for any teaching or matter specifically challenged in the argument.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
In the event the determination of the status of the application as subject to AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103 (or as subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103) is incorrect, any correction of the statutory basis (i.e., changing from AIA to pre-AIA ) for the rejection will not be considered a new ground of rejection if the prior art relied upon, and the rationale supporting the rejection, would be the same under either status.

This modification would have been prompted in order to substitute the dimensionality reduction and enhancement processing techniques of Luo et al. for the dimensionality reduction and increasing processes of Hu et al. The dimensionality reduction and increasing processes of Hu et al. could be substituted in place of the dimensionality reduction and enhancement processing techniques of Luo et al. utilizing well-known techniques in the art and would likely yield predictable results, in that, in the combination, the dimensionality reduction processing would be performed by the preset first fully-connected layer followed by ReLU (Rectified Linear Unit) activation function of Hu et al. and the dimensionality enhancement processing would be performed by the preset second fully-connected layer followed by sigmoid activation function of Hu et al. Furthermore, this modification would have been prompted by the teachings and suggestions of Hu et al. that their teachings improve the representational power of features, can be integrated into standard architectures such as ResNet-50 and may prove useful for tasks requiring strong discriminative features, see at least page 2011 section 1 paragraphs 2 - 3, page 2013 section 3, page 2013 section 3.3 - page 2014 section 4 paragraph 1 and page 2021 section 8 of Hu et al. This combination could be completed according to well-known techniques in the art and would likely yield predictable results, in that the preset first fully-connected layer followed by ReLU (Rectified Linear Unit) activation function and the dimensionality enhancement processing would be performed by the preset second fully-connected layer followed by sigmoid activation function of Hu et al. would be utilized to perform the dimensionality reduction processing and the dimensionality enhancement processing, respectively, of the base device of Luo et al. Therefore, it would have been obvious to combine Luo et al. with Hu et al. to obtain the invention as specified in claim 4.
- With regards to claims 11 and 18, Luo et al. disclose the device and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claims 9 and 16, respectively, wherein performing the purification operation on the global initial channel attention information to obtain the global channel attention information comprises: performing dimensionality reduction processing on the global initial channel attention information using a preset first layer to obtain global dimensionality reduction channel attention information; (Luo et al., Figs. 6A & 6B, Figs. 6A & 6B, Pg. 3 ¶ 0034 and 0040 - 0042, Pg. 4 ¶ 0044 - 0049, Pg. 7 ¶ 0075 - Pg. 8 ¶ 0084) and performing dimensionality enhancement processing on the global dimensionality reduction channel attention information using a preset connected layer to obtain the global channel attention information. (Luo et al., Figs. 6A & 6B, Pg. 7 ¶ 0068 - 0070, Pg. 8 ¶ 0079 - 0084, Pg. 11 ¶ 0111 - 0114) Luo et al. fail to disclose explicitly using a preset first fully connected layer; and using a preset second fully connected layer. Pertaining to analogous art, Hu et al. disclose performing dimensionality reduction processing on the global initial channel attention information using a preset first fully connected layer to obtain global dimensionality reduction channel attention information; (Hu et al., Pg. 2011 § 1 ¶ 2 - 3, Pg. 2012 Fig. 1, Pg. 2013 § 3 - § 3.2, Pgs. 2014 - 2015 § 4, Pg. 2014 Figs. 2 - 3) and performing dimensionality enhancement processing on the global dimensionality reduction channel attention information using a preset second fully connected layer to obtain the global channel attention information. (Hu et al., Pg. 2011 § 1 ¶ 2 - 3, Pg. 2012 Fig. 1, Pg. 2013 § 3 - § 3.2, Pgs. 2014 - 2015 § 4, Pg. 2014 Figs. 2 - 3) Luo et al. and Hu et al. are combinable because they are both directed towards computer vision systems that aim to emphasize relevant and informative image features and suppress less useful image features. It would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to modify the teachings of Luo et al. with the teachings of Hu et al. Therefore, it would have been obvious to combine Luo et al. with Hu et al. to obtain the invention as specified in claims 11 and 18.
