Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claims 1-8 are pending.
Applicant’s amendment to the title filed 16 July 2026 is acknowledged. The objection to the title is withdrawn.
Applicant incorrectly indicated in the remarks of the response that the interview was conducted on 08/30/2026 when it actually was conducted on 06/30/2026. The summary of the interview is however accurate.
Response to Amendment
Applicant’s amendment filed 16 July 2026 raises new issues of 35 U.S.C. 112 due to the last amended limitation of “display the user of the target-related content along with the target content and the recommended operation on the screen”.
Does applicant intend to mean –display to the user, the target-related content along with the target content and the recommended operation on the screen--?
The examiner’s attempts on 23 Sept 2026 to contact applicant representative to discuss 112 issues raised by the amendment filed 16 July 2026 were unsuccessful.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of the first paragraph of 35 U.S.C. 112(a):
(a) IN GENERAL.—The specification shall contain a written description of the invention, and of the manner and process of making and using it, in such full, clear, concise, and exact terms as to enable any person skilled in the art to which it pertains, or with which it is most nearly connected, to make and use the same, and shall set forth the best mode contemplated by the inventor or joint inventor of carrying out the invention.
The following is a quotation of the first paragraph of pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112:
The specification shall contain a written description of the invention, and of the manner and process of making and using it, in such full, clear, concise, and exact terms as to enable any person skilled in the art to which it pertains, or with which it is most nearly connected, to make and use the same, and shall set forth the best mode contemplated by the inventor of carrying out his invention.
Claims 1-8 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(a) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), first paragraph, as failing to comply with the written description requirement. The claim(s) contains subject matter which was not described in the specification in such a way as to reasonably convey to one skilled in the relevant art that the inventor or a joint inventor, or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the inventor(s), at the time the application was filed, had possession of the claimed invention.
The specification as originally filed does not discuss the now recited “display the user of the target-related content along with the target content and the recommended operation on the screen”.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-8 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
The specification as originally filed does not discuss the now recited “display the user of the target-related content along with the target content and the recommended operation on the screen”.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1-8 would be allowable if the last limitation is rewritten to overcome the rejections under 35 U.S.C. 112(a), (b) discussed above.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure.
Schultz et al (US-20120151377-A1) teach a method for monitoring correspondence (710) between multiple users, and identifying items (720) related to the correspondence. Related content items are linked to the correspondence in a provisional project workspace upon inferring an association of the related content to the correspondence. The related content items are displayed in the workspace employing a correspondence view. History and activity information associated with the related items is displayed, where the history and activity information includes edit records, viewing records and timestamps.
Balik et al (US 11093510 B2) teach processing operations configured to identify and present productivity features that are contextually relevant for user access to an electronic document. In doing so, signal data is evaluated to determine a context associated with user access to an electronic document and insights, from the determined context, are utilized to rank productivity features for relevance to a user workflow. As an example, an intelligent learning model is trained and implemented to identify what productivity features are most relevant to a current task of a user. Productivity features are identified and ranked for contextual relevance. A notification comprising one or more ranked productivity features is presented to a user. In one example, the notification is presented through a user interface of an application/service. For instance, a user interface pane is surfaced to present suggestions. However, in alternative examples, notification of ranked productivity features is presented through different modalities.
Fernando, Basura, and Samitha Herath. "Anticipating human actions by correlating past with the future with jaccard similarity measures." 2021 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR). IEEE, 2021.
Abstract
We propose a framework for early action recognition and anticipation by correlating past features with the future using three novel similarity measures called Jaccard vector similarity, Jaccard cross-correlation and Jaccard Frobenius inner product over covariances. Using these combinations of novel losses and using our framework, we obtain state-of the-art results for early action recognition in UCF101 and JHMDB datasets by obtaining 91.7 % and 83.5 % accuracy respectively for an observation percentage of 20. Similarly, we obtain state-of-the-art results for Epic-Kitchen55 and Breakfast datasets for action anticipation by obtaining 20.35 and 41.8 top-1 accuracy respectively.
Applicant's amendment necessitated the new ground(s) of rejection presented in this Office action. Accordingly, THIS ACTION IS MADE FINAL. See MPEP § 706.07(a). Applicant is reminded of the extension of time policy as set forth in 37 CFR 1.136(a).
A shortened statutory period for reply to this final action is set to expire THREE MONTHS from the mailing date of this action. In the event a first reply is filed within TWO MONTHS of the mailing date of this final action and the advisory action is not mailed until after the end of the THREE-MONTH shortened statutory period, then the shortened statutory period will expire on the date the advisory action is mailed, and any nonprovisional extension fee (37 CFR 1.17(a)) pursuant to 37 CFR 1.136(a) will be calculated from the mailing date of the advisory action. In no event, however, will the statutory period for reply expire later than SIX MONTHS from the mailing date of this final action.
