Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1-10, 13 and 15-20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by US 2022/0069237 A1 to Kwon et al.
Regarding claim 1, Kwon et al. discloses an OLED wherein the light-emitting layer (EML) comprises the organometallic compound M1(Ln1)n1(Ln2)3-n1 and wherein Ln2 is the following ligand

.
A particular example of the organometallic compound is the following compound on page 47:

.
This compound is representative of the claimed compound: M1 = Ir, n1 = 2, n2 = 1, Y1 = O, CY4 = 5-membered N-containing ring, and adjacent R4’s combined to form rings. Claim 1 is therefore anticipated. See MPEP § 2131.02(II). So are claims 2-10 and 13. The features of claims 15-20 are disclosed on pages 53+, page 126, paragraph [0219] and the examples.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 11-12 and 14 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
As adjacent groups of R1 to R7 and R44 to R47 are not allowed to combine to form rings in claims 11-12 and 14, the claimed compounds are not obvious over Kwon et al., which represents the closest prior art of record.
