DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claims 1-16 are pending.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action:
A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made.
Claims 1, 7-8 and 15-16 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable Smolenaers (US 2020/0298722) in view of Xu, et al. (US 2022/0367918, herein Xu).1 Regarding claims 1, 8 and 16, Smolenaers teaches a conductive fast charging system comprising: an integrated power source including a power grid (paragraph 0030), a solar farm (paragraph 0051), and energy storage system (paragraph 0027), fault protection connected to the integrated power source wherein the fault protection is based on multiple mutually coordinated solid-state DC circuit breakers (paragraph 0044); and an off vehicle portable charger connected to the fault protection and coordinated therewith, wherein the off vehicle portable charger comprises at least one multiphase interleaved circuit that reduces the ripples of charging currents and filter size (paragraph 0062); and transformers (paragraph 0088). Smolenaers does not explicitly teach wherein the interleaved circuit is in a modular hexagonal prism configuration that integrates power electronic devices with transformers. Xu teaches wherein the interleaved circuit is in a modular hexagonal prism configuration that integrates power electronic devices with transformers (paragraph 0092). It would have been obvious to one having ordinary skill in the art at the time of invention to combine the teachings of Smolenaers and Xu, because such a combination helps to improve the safety of the system (paragraph 0004 of Xu). Regarding claims 7 and 15, Smolenaers further teaches the charging system wirelessly charges vehicles (paragraph 0073).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 2-6 and 9-14 objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
