DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Election/Restrictions
Applicant’s election without traverse of Species 1 (Figures 1-6), Claims 1-7 and 13 in the reply filed on 01/07/2026 is acknowledged.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1 | 4 | 13 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by IWAI et al. JP 2015012199 A [IWAI].
Regarding claim 1, IWAI teaches A superconducting coil device [Abstract teaches a superconducting coil device] comprising stacked pancake coils [see a plurality of single pancake coils 10A], each of the stacked pancake coils comprising an inner frame [see frame 11], a separator [see insulating part 13] disposed outside the inner frame [at least figure 6 shows that the element 13 disposed to the right and the left outside element 13], and a superconducting wire wound part formed on the separator [see superconducting wire 1 of each laminated single pancake coil 10A, fig. 6], wherein the superconducting coil device further comprises a position adjustment part [see connecting portion 54] configured to adjust relative positions of the stacked pancake coils [keeping the positions of the coils, figs. 6-8].
Regarding claim 4, IWAI teaches The superconducting coil device according to claim 1, wherein the pancake coils include at least one of a single pancake coil [10A] in which the superconducting wire wound part is formed on one side of the separator [13], or a double pancake coil [10A and 10A, fig. 6] in which the superconducting wire wound part is formed on both sides of the separator [see 13 in the middle, fig. 6].
Regarding claim 13, IWAI teaches The superconducting coil device according to claim 1, wherein the separator [13, fig. 10] contains a conductive material [a heat transfer portion 58, fig. 10].
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 2-3 | 5-7 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter:
The prior arts of record when considered as a whole, alone or in combination neither anticipates nor renders obvious the combination of - each of the stacked pancake coils further comprises: an insertion portion to be inserted into a fastening hole formed in the separator; and a spigot joint part to be fastened to the fastening hole, the position adjustment part comprises the insertion portion and the fastening hole, and an inner diameter of the fastening hole is greater than an outer diameter of the insertion portion.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. See (PTO-892).
