Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
DETAILED ACTION
Claims 1-20 are presented for examination.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 101
2. 35 U.S.C. 101 reads as follows:
Whoever invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof, may obtain a patent therefor, subject to the conditions and requirements of this title.
3. Claim 20 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 101 because the claimed invention is directed to non-statutory subject matter.
4. Claim 20 recites “a computer readable storge medium” where the presented specification by applicants does not provide definition of “a computer readable storage medium”. In this instance, applicants have failed to provide antecedent basis for the claim terminology “computer readable storage medium.” Therefore, the question becomes whether non-statutory embodiments would be fairly conveyed to one of ordinary skill given the terminology utilized. In this instance, it would appear to be reasonable to interpret medium for “carrying” as fairly conveying signals and other forms of propagation or transmission media to one of ordinary skill. Applicant may amend the phrase with “non-transitory” to overcome the rejection. For example, applicant may rewrite as “a non-transitory computer readable storage medium” or something similar.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1-19 allowed because prior art of record individually or in combination does not disclose about determining a chemical mixture for a drilling fluid based on: a first interdependency of a first target property of a set of properties associated with the drilling fluid and a first substance to be added for the chemical mixture; and a second interdependency of the first target property and a second substance to be added for the chemical mixture; and maintaining or updating the chemical mixture based on a first measurement of the first target property, a second measurement of a second target property of the set of properties, or combinations including one of the foregoing.
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure.
A. US-20250059864 discloses a method for determining drilling fluid properties.
B. US-20240328265 discloses an automated drilling manager transmits one or more commands to various control systems in a well system.
C. US-20220243544 discloses a method for managing a drilling fluid includes receiving interpolations of an effect on one or more drilling fluid properties based on adding a plurality of additives to a drilling fluid.
D. US-20170343969 discloses a method for controlling drilling fluid properties in real-time using predictive models.
E. US-20150170087 discloses an interdependent multi-workflow management system may be configured to identify the workflows that are part of an interdependent multi-workflow drilling process.
F. US-20140166361 discloses systems and methods for monitoring drilling fluid components in real time.
G. US-20080202216 discloses system and method for monitoring and/or controlling attributes of multiple chemical mixtures with a single sensor.
