DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 and 103 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale , or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action: A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made. Claim(s) 1, 2 and 16-19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a1) as being anticipated by , or in the alternative, under 35 USC 103 as unpatentable over, CN105540902B. Figure s 2 and 6 of the CN reference are copied herein with some annotations. As seen in fig. 2, raw water inlet is at 43, and this raw water passes through the prefilter and then the reverse osmosis (RO) filter. Part of the water entering the RO filter is filtered through and then into the rear filter 49, and out through the axial central permeate outlet. The other part of the raw water passes along the RO filter and comes out as concentrate through the annual concentrate outlet. The rear filter 49 is inside an accommodation space in an inner housing as claimed. These anticipate claims 1 and 2. The first filtration medium is the prefilter, second is the RO filter and third is the filter 49, as in claim 16. Water source is not a patentable element. The prefilter surrounds the RO filter. They are made as hollow cylinders, and the first filtered fluid goes through channels in the RO filter as in claim 17 . A water faucet is not shown in CN, but is implied to take the water out from the filter, or would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art to provide faucets to collect water as desired, which makes claims 18 and 19 obvious. The concentrate water (first filtered water) can be taken out for useful purposes other than drinking. Claim(s) 1 and 18-19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a1) as being anticipated by Bassett et al., (US 2005/0040097.) As annotated in the figure 3, Bassett teaches a front filter and a rear filter ; both filters having separate outlets connected to faucets as seen in fig. 1. Water from inlet 222 passes through front filter 120, part of which goes through outlet 200 to faucet 20 and the other part through rear filter and to the faucet 30, thus anticipating the clams. Claim(s) 1 -3 and 1 6-17 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a1) as being anticipated by WO 2019/085871. Annotated figure 51 is copied herein. It shows a filter cartridge assembly having a front filter, a rear filter and a reverse osmosis (second) filter. The rear filter is in an accommodation space inside an inner housing as claimed. There is a water inlet, a filtered water outlet (from front prefilter), an RO concentrate outlet, and a pure water outlet -all seen in figures 54 and 55. Valve 400 is inside the inner housing as claimed. It closes preventing back flow into tube 200. The arrangement of the filters are also as claimed. Please note that this WIPO reference is similar in structure to the CN reference cited in rejection 1, and also has the added check valve. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 4 -15 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims. Claim 4 recites the functioning of the valve member in the inner housing. Th WIPO reference teaches only a check valve which does not function as claimed. Claim 6 recites a first blocking member (25) which is a porous body that prevents the particulates form the rear filtration medium from flowing out into the outlet, while allowing filtered water to flow through. This is a novel and unobvious structure because of the particulate filter medium in the rear filter .
