DETAILED ACTION
Specification
The title of the invention is not descriptive. A new title is required that is clearly indicative of the invention to which the claims are directed.
The following title is suggested: “UE Path Information Signaling in a Wireless Communication System”.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1, 2, 5-7, 10-12 and 15 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Zhang et al. (USPN 12,426,071).
Regarding claim 1, Zhang teaches a communication apparatus comprising: a memory storing a program [Fig. 8, 830]; and one or more processors configured to execute the program to: obtain information indicating that the communication apparatus has path information available [Col. 25, lines 4-15, information for communicating on a particular channel or frequency is communicated]; transmit, to a base station, a UEAssistanceInformation message including the information indicating that the communication apparatus has the path information available [Col. 25, lines 4-15, information is sent to base station for the acquired channel or frequency for communication]; receive, from the base station, a UEInformationRequest message [Col. 25, lines 16-41, base station sends assistance information for communicating on the identified channel or frequency based on distance, zone ID etc.]; and transmit in response to reception of the UEInformationRequest message, to the base station, a UEInformationResponse message including the path information in a case where the communication apparatus has the path information available [Col. 25, lines 16-41, UE sends back communication information based on the distance and other parameters to the base station].
The limitation of “transmit in response to the reception of the UEInformationRequest message…” is a conditional limitation and doesn’t need to take place in the claim. If the communication apparatus does not have the path information available then the transmission step stated above does not need to take place.
Regarding claims 2, 7 and 12, the limitation “transmit/receive, to the base station/from the communication apparatus, the UEInformationResponse message including the path information…” is a conditional limitation and doesn’t need to take place in the claim. If the UEInformationRequest message doesn’t include information for requesting transmission of the path information then the transmission step stated above does not need to take place.
Regarding claims 5, 10 and 15, Zhang teaches the path information includes information of a flight path or a moving path [Col. 14, lines 32-45].
Regarding claim 6, Zhang teaches a base station comprising: a memory storing a program [Fig. 12, 1230]; and one or more processors configured to execute the program to: receive, from a communication apparatus, a UEAssistanceInformation message including information indicating that the communication apparatus has path information available [Col. 25, lines 4-15, information is sent to base station for the acquired channel or frequency for communication]; obtain the information indicating that the communication apparatus has the path information available, the information indicating that the communication apparatus has the path information available being included in the UEAssistanceInformation message [Col. 25, lines 4-15]; transmit, to the communication apparatus, a UEInformationRequest message [Col. 25, lines 16-41, base station sends assistance information for communicating on the identified channel or frequency based on distance, zone ID etc.]; and receive in response to transmission of the UEInformationRequest message, from the communication apparatus, a UEInformationResponse message including the path information in a case where the communication apparatus has the path information available [Col. 25, lines 16-41, UE sends back communication information based on the distance and other parameters to the base station].
Regarding claim 11, Zhang teaches a method performed by a communication apparatus, comprising: obtaining information indicating that the communication apparatus has path information available [Col. 25, lines 4-15, information for communicating on a particular channel or frequency is communicated]; transmitting, to a base station, a UEAssistanceInformation message including the information indicating that the communication apparatus has the path information available [Col. 25, lines 4-15, information is sent to base station for the acquired channel or frequency for communication]; receiving, from the base station, a UEInformationRequest message [Col. 25, lines 16-41, base station sends assistance information for communicating on the identified channel or frequency based on distance, zone ID etc.]; and transmitting in response to reception of the UEInformationRequest message, to the base station, a UEInformationResponse message including the path information in a case where the communication apparatus has the path information available [Col. 25, lines 16-41, UE sends back communication information based on the distance and other parameters to the base station].
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 3, 4, 8, 9, 13 and 14 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure is cited on the form PTO-892.
