Claim Objections
Claims 1, 3, 7, 13-15, 17, and 20are objected because of the following informalities:
In claims 1, 3, 7, 13-15, 17, and 20, it is suggested to amend as suggested below for clarity of the limitations, for corrections of typographical errors, and for consistency between parallel claims.
1. (Currently Amended) A method performed by a terminal, the method comprising:
receiving, by the terminal, from a base station, a first downlink message, wherein the first downlink message comprises: a first set of parameters relating to resume procedure for data transmission[[;]], a second set of parameters relating to resume procedure for state transition[[;]], and a parameter for a first timer;
receiving, by the terminal, a system information, wherein the system information comprises a parameter for a first threshold and a parameter for a second threshold;
starting, by the terminal, the first timer based on the parameter for the first timer;
determining, by the terminal, to initiate a resume procedure for data transmission based on: the first set of parameters[[;]], the first threshold[[;]], and the second threshold;
stopping, by the terminal, the first timer after restoring the configuration parameters stored in UE Inactive Access Stratum (AS) context in case that the resume procedure for data transmission is initiated; and
transmitting, by the terminal, a first uplink message, wherein the first uplink message comprises an identifier determined based on the second set of parameters, wherein the terminal determines whether to perform RAN Notification Area (RNA) update in case that the first timer expires.
3. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 1, wherein the second set of parameters comprises:
a parameter indicating a count for security key; and
a parameter indicating [[the]]an identifier of the terminal.
7. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:
determining, by the terminal, to initiate the resume procedure for state transition in case that:
a reference signal reception power is lower than the first threshold; or
data volume of the radio bearers configured for the resume procedure for data transmission is greater than the second threshold.
13. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 12, wherein the first cell is a cell from where the first downlink message is received.
14. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 12, wherein the UE Inactive AS context further comprises[[:]] a radio network temporary identifier of the terminal.
15. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 1, wherein the first uplink message comprises an authentication code generated based on [[the]]a first security key.
17. (Currently Amended) The method of claim 16, wherein the second security key is derived based on:
the first security key in the UE Inactive AS context;
the physical cell identity of the first cell in the UE Inactive AS context; and
the parameter indicating a count for security key comprised in the first downlink message.
20. (Currently Amended) A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal, and
a controller configured to control the transceiver to:
receive, from a base station, a first downlink message, wherein the first downlink message comprises a first set of parameters relating to resume procedure for data transmission[[;]], a second set of parameters relating to resume procedure for state transition[[;]], and a parameter for a first timer;
start the first timer based on the parameter for the first timer;
receive a system information, wherein the system information comprises a parameter for first threshold and a parameter for second threshold;
determine to initiate a resume procedure for data transmission based on:
the first set of parameters[[;]], the first threshold[[;]], and the second threshold;
stop the first timer after restoring the configuration parameters stored in UE Inactive Access Stratum (AS) context in case that the resume procedure for data transmission is initiated; and
transmit a first uplink message, wherein the second uplink message comprises an identifier determined based on the second set of parameters, wherein the terminal determines whether to perform RAN Notification Area (RNA) update in case that the first timer expires.
Appropriate correction is required.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
Claims 3 and 15 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor, or for pre-AIA the applicant regards as the invention.
Regarding claim 3:
Claim 3 recites a limitation “the identifier of the terminal” in line 4. There is insufficient antecedent basis for the limitation in the claim.
Regarding claim 15:
Claim 15 recites a limitation “the first security key” in line 3. There is insufficient antecedent basis for the limitation in the claim.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1, 2,4-14, and 16-20 are allowed.
Claims 3 and 15 would be allowable if rewritten to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112(pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action and to include all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
