Office Action

§102 §112
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . DETAILED ACTION Response to Amendment Acknowledgement is made of the Response to Restriction, filed on July 20, 2026, in which: Group I directed to claims 1-13 is elected without traverse. Claims 21-27 are New, and Claims 14-20 are Canceled. Claims 1-13 and 21-27 are currently pending and an Office action on the merits follows. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b): (b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention. The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph: The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention. Claims 6 and 26 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention. The term “essentially a same communications” in claims 6 and 26 is a relative term which renders the claim indefinite. The term “essentially a same communications” is not defined by the claim, the specification does not provide a standard for ascertaining the requisite degree, and one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claim(s) 1-13 and 21-27is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Pub No.: US-20220053433-A1 (herein “Abedini”). Claims 1, 21, and 25 Consider claim 1, Abedini teaches a device (see Abedini Fig. 14, Repeater Device 1404), comprising: a processing system including a processor (see Abedini Fig. 32, note Processor 3204 of Repeater Device 3200); and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations (see Abedini Fig. 32, note CRM 3206 of Repeater Device 3200), the operations comprising: communicating, with a parent cell of a wireless communications system, beamforming information (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0215]-[0219] note Initial Access and RRC Connection 1408 may identify the beams that will be used to communicate between the Repeater Device 1404 and Network Access Node 1402); receiving, from the parent cell, first parent downlink (DL) communications, wherein the first parent DL communications are associated with first user equipment (UE) (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0220] note the Network AN 1402 transmits DL traffic for the UE 1406 to the repeater device 1404 ); transmitting, to the first UE, first repeater DL communications, wherein the first repeater DL communications are based upon the first parent DL communications (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0220] note then the repeater device 1404 may forward the DL traffic for the UE to the UE 1406); receiving, from the first UE, first UE uplink (UL) communications (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0221] note the UE 1406 may transmit UL traffic to the repeater device 1404); and transmitting, to the parent cell, first repeater UL communications, wherein the first repeater UL communications are based upon the first UE UL communications (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0221[ note the repeater device 1404 may forward the UL traffic from the UE 1406 to the Network AN 1402); wherein the beamforming information is used to control the transmitting of the first repeater DL communications, the transmitting of the first repeater UL communications, or any combination thereof (see Abedini Fig. 14, [0215]-[0219] note the Network AN 1402 and the Repeater Device 1404 identify the beams used to communicate with each other).
