§101
CTNF 18/750,301 CTNF 83556 DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status 07-03-aia AIA 15-10-aia The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 101 07-04-01 AIA 07-04 35 U.S.C. 101 reads as follows: Whoever invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof, may obtain a patent therefor, subject to the conditions and requirements of this title. Claims 15-20 rejected under 35 U.S.C. 101 because the claimed invention is directed to non-statutory subject matter. The claim(s) does/do not fall within at least one of the four categories of patent eligible subject matter because the claim is directed to computer-readable medium and the medium could be transitory medium which is not one of the four categories of patent eligible subject matter. Allowable Subject Matter 12-151-07 AIA 07-97 12-51-07 Claim s 1-14 are allowed. 13-03 AIA The following is an examiner’s statement of reasons for allowance: Claim 1 which recites the method for tracking area update for non-terrestrial satellite networks, the prior art of record discloses receiving, at a network-side node a tracking area (TA) list for a terminal device, wherein the TA list includes a TA identifier (TAI) for at least one satellite cell; performing a first paging of the terminal device using the TA list. However, the prior art of record neither anticipate nor render obvious the limitation as claimed, with respect to the method comprising: receiving, at a network-side node a tracking area (TA) list for a terminal device, wherein the TA list includes a TA identifier (TAI) for at least one satellite cell; performing a first paging of the terminal device using the TA list; determining that the first paging has failed; determining a first extended TA list update by performing a union of adjacent tracking areas for all entries in the TA list; and performing a second paging of the terminal device using the first extended TA list update. The prior art of record, also does not teach or suggest the apparatus as recited in claim 8 for the same reason as stated for claim 1 above . Any comments considered necessary by applicant must be submitted no later than the payment of the issue fee and, to avoid processing delays, should preferably accompany the issue fee. Such submissions should be clearly labeled “Comments on Statement of Reasons for Allowance.” Conclusion 07-96 AIA The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure.
