DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
In the event the determination of the status of the application as subject to AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103 (or as subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103) is incorrect, any correction of the statutory basis (i.e., changing from AIA to pre-AIA ) for the rejection will not be considered a new ground of rejection if the prior art relied upon, and the rationale supporting the rejection, would be the same under either status.
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claim(s) 1 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(1) as being anticipated by Yu et al. (US Patent No. 9,626,577 cited by applicant).
Regarding claim 1, Yu teaches a computing system, comprising:
one or more memory devices (506) to store instructions; and
one or more processors (504) to execute the instructions to perform operations, the operations comprising:
receiving a plurality of images captured by a camera (col. 2, ll. 36-38);
selecting a portion of the plurality of images having a quality rating above a threshold level, wherein the quality rating of each image of the plurality of images is based on at least one of motion information of the camera when the image is captured or light information associated with the image (col. 1, l. 59 to col. 2. l. 3);
processing, by a coarse classifier, a first image among the portion of the plurality of images to determine whether the first image depicts at least one object from one or more particular classes of objects (a preprocessor/coarse classifier is used to detect potential locations that may contain recognizable text/objects -col. 3, ll. 40-51);
in response to determining the first image depicts the at least one object from the one or more particular classes of objects, performing an object recognition process to recognize the at least one object (col. 11, ll. 32-40); and
presenting content related to the at least one object recognized via the object recognition process (implicit, i.e. displaying the recognized texts).
