DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claims 1-16 have been examined.
Claims 17-22 have been cancelled.
Specification
The disclosure is objected to because of the following informalities:
Paragraph 0048 uses the abbreviation “BD/CCE” without first using the full words so it is unclear what “BD/CCE” words the abbreviation stands for
Paragraph 0052 recites “FIG. 10 shows a signaling diagram 600 for reporting MSM capability information related to multiple cells according to various exemplary embodiments. The signaling diagram 600 includes the UE 110 and the gNB 320A.” However, the drawings do not show a FIG. 10. The Examiner assumes it should read “FIG. 6”.
Appropriate correction is required.
Claim Objections
Claim 1 is objected to because of the following informalities:
Claim 1 line 6 “wherein the a number” should read --wherein a number--
Appropriate correction is required.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-16 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
In reference to claim 1
The language ”a release 17 (Rel-17) multi-slot physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring (MSM) capability” in lines 4-5 renders the claim indefinite. In particular, the term “release 17 (Rel-17)” is unclear rendering the language “a release 17 (Rel-17) multi-slot physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring (MSM) capability” to be unclear and indefinite. Therefore, one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention.
The language “wherein the a number of configured downlink cells is greater than a reported number of downlink cells” in lines 7-8 renders the claim indefinite because it is unclear how or if the language is tied to the apparatus rendering the metes and bounds of the claim uncertain. The Examiner recommends explicitly tying the language to the apparatus such as in claim 6. For example, “wherein the apparatus is configured with a number of downlink cells that are greater than a reported number of downlink cells”.
In reference to claim 2, 8, 13
The language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” in line 2 renders the claim indefinite. In particular, the term “Rel17” is unclear rendering the language “Rel-17 MSM capability” to be unclear and indefinite. Therefore, one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention.
In reference to claim 3, 9, 14
The language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” in line 2 and “release 15 (Rel-15) MSM capability” in line 3 renders the claim indefinite. In particular, the terms “Rel17” and “release 15” are unclear rendering the language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” and “release 15 (Rel-15) MSM capability” to be unclear and indefinite. Therefore, one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention.
In reference to claim 4, 10, 15
The language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” in line 2 and “release 16 (Rel-16) MSM capability” in line 3 renders the claim indefinite. In particular, the terms “Rel17” and “release 16” are unclear rendering the language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” and “release 16 (Rel-16) MSM capability” to be unclear and indefinite. Therefore, one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention.
In reference to claim 5, 11, 16
The language ”Rel-17 MSM capability” in line 2, “release 16 (Rel-16) MSM capability” in line 3, and “release 15 (Rel-15) MSM capability” in lines 3-4 renders the claim indefinite. In particular, the terms “Rel17”, “release 16”, and “release 15” are unclear rendering the language ”Rel-17 MSM capability”, “release 16 (Rel-16) MSM capability”, and “release 15 (Rel-15) MSM capability” to be unclear and indefinite. Therefore, one of ordinary skill in the art would not be reasonably apprised of the scope of the invention.
In reference to claim 6
The language ”a release 17 (Rel-17) multi-slot physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring (MSM) capability” in line 4 renders the claim indefinite.
In reference to claim 12
The language ”a release 17 (Rel-17) multi-slot physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring (MSM) capability” in line 5 renders the claim indefinite.
In reference to claim 7
Claim 7 is rejected because it depends on a rejected parent claim.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure are:
US 12574768 pertains to A method for operating a user equipment includes determining a combination (X, Y) of consecutive slots, where X and Y are positive integers with Y<X, and receiving first physical PDCCHs with a first subcarrier spacing (SCS) configuration μ1 within Y slots of X slots.
US 11758552 pertains to a user equipment (UE) may transmit an indication of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring capability that indicates an amount of time between two consecutive PDCCH monitoring windows, a number of slots to be included in a PDCCH monitoring window, and a number of consecutive symbols in a slot to be associated with PDCCH monitoring. The UE may receive a PDCCH monitoring configuration that is based at least in part on the PDCCH monitoring capability.
US 2022/0304046 pertains to switching of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring capabilities in a wireless communication system. A method for operating a user equipment includes receiving information to skip reception of a number of PDCCHs over a number of slots; determining an instruction to receive first PDCCHs in first slots from the number of slots based on a transmission of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) that provides a positive scheduling request (SR) in a first slot that is before the first slots, or skip the reception of the number of PDCCHs in the number of slots based on an absence of transmission of the PUCCH in the first slot; and based on the instruction, receiving the first PDCCHs in the first slots or skipping the reception of the first PDCCHs in the number of slots.
US 2025/0310969 pertains to monitoring a search space for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission in one or more monitoring occasion groups of a plurality of non-consecutive monitoring occasion groups, each monitoring occasion group of the plurality of non-consecutive monitoring occasion groups comprising a group of non-consecutive monitoring occasions in a respective group of consecutive slots, the group of non-consecutive monitoring occasions being associated with a single monitoring configuration from the set of monitoring configurations, each slot of the respective group of consecutive slots comprising one or more monitoring occasions from one of the plurality of non-consecutive monitoring occasions groups, wherein the PDCCH transmission is repeated in each slot of the group of consecutive slots.
