Office Action

§102
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . This office action is in response to amendment filed on 6/09/2026. Currently claims 1-3 and 5-16 are pending. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claim(s) 1 and 2 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Kulawiec (US Patent 5909282). Regarding claim 1, Kulawiec teaches (Figs. 1-5) A system that measures thickness of a glass (20), the system comprising: a laser (20) that transmits a laser beam through the glass (Fig. 1); an imaging sensor (16) that senses an interference pattern of the laser beam through the glass, wherein the imaging sensor is an optical line scan sensor (ccd camera outputs data by scanning each line of pixels); and a computer (64) that processes sensor data corresponding to the interference pattern (Col. 4, lines 11-26) received from the sensor to determine the thickness of the glass (see col. 4, line 26 measurement “t”). Regarding claim 2, Kulawiec teaches the glass is a glass sheet. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 7-16 are allowed. Claims 3, 5 and 6 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
