DETAILED ACTION
Summary
This office action for US Patent application 18/875694 is responsive to communications filed on December 16th, 2024. Currently, claims 1-33 are pending are presented for examination while claims 1-13 were canceled.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. § 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 14, 23, 32 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C §102 (a)(2) as being anticipated by Menon et al. (Appl. No: 17/544,986 filed on December 8th, 2021: refer to US 20230179800 A1).
Regarding claim 1, Menon et al. (Appl. No: 17/544,986 filed on December 8th, 2021: refer to US 20230179800 A1) meets the claim limitations, as follows:
A method of video encoding, comprising:
extracting a video encoding feature of initial video data based on a hardware video editor, the video encoding feature representing video content complexity of the initial video data [i.e. extract a spatial feature and a temporal feature from a video segment of a video input; Fig. 3];
processing, based on a pre-trained predictive neural network model, the video encoding feature of the initial video data to obtain a target quality level corresponding to the initial video data, wherein the target quality level represents an image quality level of the initial video encoded in a constant quality variable bit rate mode [i.e. predict a bitrate-resolution pair using a machine learning (neural network) model based on the spatial feature and the temporal feature; paragraph. 0005, Fig. 3]; and
encoding the initial video data at the target quality level with the hardware video editor to generate a target video [i.e. encode the video segment with the predicted bitrate-resolution pair; Fig. 3].
Regarding claims 23 and 32, all the claim limitations which are set forth and rejected as per discussion for claim 1.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 15-22, 24-31, 33 objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
