DETAILED ACTION
Claim Interpretation
It is understood that ‘adc’ refers to an analog-to-digital conversion value, fed back by a sensor.
Additionally, it is understood that ‘printing unit’ refers not to a print head but to a region of printing on the paper.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 24-43 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Regarding Claim 24, lines 17-18, it is claimed that “the printer paper positioning the printing unit and the connection area” however it is not understood how the printer paper itself performs the positioning. Additionally, in lines 17-19, the phrase appears incomplete, starting with the transitional term ‘so that’ (i.e. so that what happens?).
Regarding Claim 32, lines 12-14, the phrase appears incomplete, starting with the transitional term ‘so that’ (i.e. so that what happens?).
Regarding Claim 32, line 8, the term “re-determining” is recited however no initial determination has been introduced thus far. It is unclear how it is “RE-determining”.
Claims 25-31 and 33-43 are rejected by dependency.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 24-43 would be allowable if rewritten or amended to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action.
Conclusion
