Office Action

§102
DETAILED ACTION This action is in response to application filed on 07 January 2025 (including amendment filed simultaneously). Claims 1-8 and 10 are now pending in the present application and claim 9 is canceled. This office action is made Non-Final. Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Information Disclosure Statement The information disclosure statement(s) (IDS) submitted on 22 May 2025 is in compliance with the provisions of 37 CFR 1.97 and is being considered by the examiner. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claim(s) 1-8 and 10 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by El Hamss et al. (hereinafter El Hamss; US 2023/0093477 A1; also, see US 12587318 B2). Regarding claims 1, 5, and 10, El Hamss discloses a method comprising: receiving, by a User Equipment (UE), information on a semi persistent scheduling (SPS) group comprising a first SPS configuration and a second SPS configuration, and a subsequent data reception (SDR) timer related to the SPS group, wherein the first SPS configuration comprises a plurality of first SPS occasions and the second SPS configuration comprises a plurality of second SPS occasions { (see pg. 11, [0143]; pg. 12, [0155]; Figs. 1-5), where the system has SPS groups and SPS configurations }; based on a data unit being received on a first SPS occasion of the plurality of first SPS occasions, starting, by the UE, the SDR timer, wherein receptions on a second SPS occasion located after the first SPS occasion within a SPS group period are skipped { (see pg. 12, [0155]; pg. 11, [0143]; Figs. 1-5), where the system has SPS occasions that are skipped (see pg. 14, [0183]) }; and based on the SDR timer being running, monitoring, by the UE, a PDCCH for receiving a first subsequent data unit of the data unit { (see pg. 11, [0143]; pg. 12, [0155]; Figs. 1-5), where the system has SPS groups and SPS configurations }. Regarding claims 2 and 6, El Hamss discloses the method of claim 1, wherein, based on the SPS group being deactivated, the SDR timer is stopped { (see pg. 12, [0155]; pg. 14, [0183]; pg. 11, [0143]; Figs. 1-5) }. Regarding claims 3 and 7, El Hamss discloses the method of claim 1, wherein the SDR timer is started regardless of whether the data unit received on the first SPS occasion is decoded successfully or not { (see pg. 12, [0155]; pg. 14, [0183]; pg. 11, [0143]; Figs. 1-5) }. Regarding claims 4 and 8, El Hamss discloses the method of claim 1, further comprising: based the PDCCH for receiving the first subsequent data unit being detected, starting a discontinuous reception (DRX) inactivity timer; and based on the DRX inactivity timer being running, monitoring a PDCCH for receiving a second subsequent data unit { (see pg. 12, [0155]; pg. 14, [0183]; pg. 11, [0143]; Figs. 1-5) }.
