DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Claim 2, 9, 16 recites the limitation "one of the first S of the L activated TCI codepoints ". There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim. It is unclear as to whether S is intended to be a subset of L.
Claim 3 recites the limitation "wherein: when the time of reception of the first DCI is later than the second DCI, the first indication of the first TCI state is used to update the first TCI state and when the time of reception of the second DCI is later than the first DCI, the second indication of the first TCI state is used to update the first TCI state." There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim. It is unclear how a first DCI could occur at a point later than a second DCI and a first DCI occur prior to a second DCI. Similar comments are made regarding claims 7, 10, 14, 17 and corresponding third DCI and fourth DCI in claims 5, 12, 18, 19.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:

(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1-5, 7-12, 14-19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Park et al. (US 20260239374 A1).

Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action:
A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made.
The factual inquiries for establishing a background for determining obviousness under 35 U.S.C. 103 are summarized as follows:
1. Determining the scope and contents of the prior art.
2. Ascertaining the differences between the prior art and the claims at issue.
3. Resolving the level of ordinary skill in the pertinent art.
4. Considering objective evidence present in the application indicating obviousness or nonobviousness.
Claims 6, 13, 20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Park in view of Xu et al. (US 20250016795 A1), hereinafter Xu.
Regarding claim 6, Park, fails to teach,
The UE of claim 1, wherein the first and second DCIs are received in control resource sets (CORESETs) associated with a same value of coresetPoolIndex.
However, Xu teaches,
The UE of claim 1, wherein the first and second DCIs are received in control resource sets (CORESETs) associated with a same value of coresetPoolIndex. (paragraph 0093 – the first and second DCI are grouped to have a singular identical coreset ID).
It would have been prima facie obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to have modified Park to incorporate the CORESET same value teachings of Xu. The purpose of doing so is to identify association between DCI stages (paragraphs 0029-0031, Xu).
Regarding claim 13, Park fails to teach,
The BS of claim 8, wherein the first and second DCIs are received in control resource sets (CORESETs) associated with a same value of coresetPoolIndex.
However, Xu teaches,
The BS of claim 8, wherein the first and second DCIs are received in control resource sets (CORESETs) associated with a same value of coresetPoolIndex.
Claim 20 is rejected as a method of claim 6.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. See PTO-892 form.
Wu et al. (US 20260040241 A1) – paragraph 0156 – Receiving a first and second DCI with the associated CORESET.
