DETAILED ACTION
Drawings
Figure 1 should be designated by a legend such as --Prior Art-- because only that which is old is illustrated. See MPEP § 608.02(g). Corrected drawings in compliance with 37 CFR 1.121(d) are required in reply to the Office action to avoid abandonment of the application. The replacement sheet(s) should be labeled “Replacement Sheet” in the page header (as per 37 CFR 1.84(c)) so as not to obstruct any portion of the drawing figures. If the changes are not accepted by the examiner, the applicant will be notified and informed of any required corrective action in the next Office action. The objection to the drawings will not be held in abeyance.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1-5 and 8-20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Kim et al (US 2011/012796 A1) [cited by applicant].
Regarding claims 1 and 13, Kim et al disclose an electronic device 100, comprising at least a casing and an antenna assembly (abstract, case 103,104 fig8), wherein at least one outer side wall of the casing is provided with a first groove that is configured to connect at least the electronic device and an external component (support member 109 in fig11 attaches into recess 105a in fig8, paras113-115), a first receiving cavity is further provided inside the casing, at least a part of a radiating element of the antenna assembly is located in the first receiving cavity (antenna 200 disposed in the cavity of the case housing 103,104), and a projection of the first receiving cavity in a thickness direction of the electronic device at least partially overlaps with a projection of the first groove in the thickness direction of the electronic device (antenna 200, recess 105a in fig8) and the watch strap assembly is connected to the electronic device by using the first groove (band 107 in fig8, pin hole 252 in fig12).
Kim et al also disclose the first receiving cavity is located in a space enclosed by a middle frame of the electronic device, a top wall of the first groove, an outer side wall that is of the casing and that is away from the middle frame, and a plane on which a display of the electronic device is located (antenna 200, in fig8), wherein the antenna assembly comprises at least the radiating element and a feeding unit connected to the radiating element; and the feeding unit is further connected to a circuit board of the electronic device (signal feeding part 211 in fig8, para94), wherein the antenna assembly further comprises a radiating branch; and one end of the radiating element is connected to one end of the radiating branch, and the other end of the radiating element is connected to the feeding unit; and the other end of the radiating branch bends in a direction away from a surface of the radiating element, and extends toward an extension direction of the radiating element (antenna 200, in fig4), the antenna assembly further comprises a grounding unit; and one end of the radiating element is connected to the grounding unit, and the other end of the radiating element is connected to the feeding unit; and the grounding unit and the feeding unit are disposed opposite to each other, wherein the radiating element is provided with a coupling gap; the coupling gap is disposed in a staggered manner relative to the grounding unit and the feeding unit (a grounding part 221 in the antenna, wherein the grounding part and the feeding part 211 are opposite to each other and wherein a coupling gap between two portions of the radiating element 200 in fig4), the radiating element comprises a main body portion and a bending support portion; and one end of the main body portion is connected to the grounding unit, the other end of the main body portion is connected to one end of the bending support portion, and the other end of the bending support portion is connected to the feeding unit; or one end of the main body portion is connected to the feeding unit, the other end of the main body portion is connected to one end of the bending support portion, and the other end of the bending support portion is connected to the grounding unit (antenna 200, in fig4), the battery is located inside the casing; and an accommodating cavity is formed between an outer side wall of the battery and an inner side wall of the casing, the accommodating cavity is configured to accommodate at least the feeding unit, and the accommodating cavity communicates with the first receiving cavity to jointly accommodate the antenna assembly (antenna 200, battery 190, a second case 104 in fig8), wherein the watch strap assembly comprises a watch strap and a spring bar connected to the watch strap; the first groove is located at one end that is of the casing and that faces the watch strap, and the spring bar is located in the first groove to connect the casing and the watch strap assembly, wherein a spring bar hole is provided on a side wall of the first groove; and two ends of the spring bar are located in the spring bar hole (via spring bar located in the hole formed by the groove; band 107 in fig8, pin hole in fig12), wherein the watch strap assembly further comprises a watch strap head grain and the watch strap head grain is connected to the watch strap; at least a part of the watch strap head grain is located in the first groove, a through hole extending in a width direction of the casing is provided in the watch strap head grain, and the spring bar runs through the through hole to connect the casing and the watch strap assembly, wherein the spring bar hole and the through hole are disposed opposite to each other (a head grain through which the spring bar passes, connection member 250, support member 109 in fig11).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 6-7 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. The patents to Compton, Han, Sayem, Hu, Wu, Chang and Wakabayashi are cited as of interested and illustrated a similar structure to an electronic device.
