DETAILED ACTION
This action is in response to application 18/923435, filed on 10/22/2024. Claims 1-8 are pending. The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Information Disclosure Statement
The information disclosure statement filed 10/22/2024 fails to comply with the provisions of 37 CFR 1.97, 1.98 and MPEP § 609 because it does not list any documents or other information. It has been placed in the application file, but the information referred to therein has not been considered as to the merits. Applicant is advised that the date of any re-submission of any item of information contained in this information disclosure statement or the submission of any missing element(s) will be the date of submission for purposes of determining compliance with the requirements based on the time of filing the statement, including all certification requirements for statements under 37 CFR 1.97(e). See MPEP § 609.05(a).
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
Claims 1-8 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention. As a preliminary matter, the claims are presented in improper form.1 Independent claim 1 is presented as a series of distinct sentences and paragraphs. Claim 3 also contains more than one sentence. Applicant’s failure to limit each claim to a single sentence renders them unexaminable. Moreover, the claims are replete with antecedent basis errors. For example, the first limitation of claim 1 recites “The user inputs information into the graphical interface of Application A, located in the desktop space” without antecedent basis for any term, rendering all further recitations of “user” “graphical interface” and “desktop space” inexact. Additionally, the claims recite undefined acronyms (“AI”, “API”) and undefined standards (“WebSocket”).
Furthermore, claim 1 recites the term “a vimcall message.” The word “vimcall” has no commonly accepted meaning and the specification as filed does not define it. The claims do not provide any context to provide meaning to the word “vimcall” or the term “a vimcall message.” The word “vimcall” and “a vimcall message” therefore appear to be new terminology. While the use of new terminology in a claim is “not only permissible, but often desirable,” if the new terminology is not precise and well-defined, then the new terminology renders the claim indefinite. MPEP 2173.05(a). Any dependent claims not explicitly addressed in this rejection inherit the deficiencies of their parent claims and are rejected accordingly.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. USPGPUB 2025/0077323 (“Palanivel”) discloses determining whether UI input calls result in frontend and/or backend processing for output (para. 56-57, 130). USPGPUB 2022/0334901 (“Ruiz”) similarly discloses “providing a single device independent backend interface to a frontend interface of a [microservice]” (para. 7). Jaramillo et al. and Miu et al. disclose “WebSocket” applications and communications therein to and from front- and back-ends. Sadtler et al. discloses numerous examples of building applications with UI front-ends communicating with server back-ends to service user interactions.
