DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claims 1-7 are pending in the current application.
Claim Objections
Regarding Claim 1, the 3rd to the last line: perhaps the language -protruding,- should be changed to -protruding-.
Regarding Claim 2, line 3, perhaps the term “a” should be changed to “the.”
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(B) CONCLUSION. - The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
Claims 1-7 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
Specifically, Claim 1 is rejected since there is no antecedent basis for the language “the first register” recited in line 11.
Regarding Claim 2, lines 3-4, the language “which is referred to as an outer clamping piece” is indefinite.
Claim 7 is rejected since there is no antecedent basis for the language “the second register” recited in line 12.
Conclusion
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to Applicant's disclosure. Ito et al. (U.S. Pat. No. 11,829,181 B2) and Ota et al. (U.S. Pat. Pub. No. 2024/0274381 A1) each disclose a multidirectional input device utilizing a lever, thin film shape resistors, and first protrusion, but the prior art fails to teach, disclose, or suggest, either alone or in combination, the claimed first protrusion that includes a protruding portion protruding in a third direction perpendicular to a first direction and a second direction, into a space between a pair of clamping pieces.
