Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
In the event the determination of the status of the application as subject to AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103 (or as subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103) is incorrect, any correction of the statutory basis (i.e., changing from AIA to pre-AIA ) for the rejection will not be considered a new ground of rejection if the prior art relied upon, and the rationale supporting the rejection, would be the same under either status.
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1, 11 and 15 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Head et al. (US 2015/0350912), hereinafter Head.
Regarding claim 1, Head discloses: (1) a residential access point 102A-fig.1A (equivalent to a private access point controller); (2) a residential gateway 108-fig. 1A (equivalent to a general network); (3) the residential access point 102A connected to the residential gateway 108 (equivalent to a private access point controller connected to a general network); (4) an electronic device 102 E-fig.1A (equivalent to a wireless device); (5) the residential gateway 108 receives a request to access the residential service from the electronic device 102E. The request includes a unique identifier, e.g., a unique APN (Access Point Name) associated with the residential service of a user, see 0046-0047. The first residential ID, e.g., APN1 is configured in the access point 102A and is added by the access point 102A to each request received from the first user, e.g., electronic device 102E, to be transmitted to the residential gateway 108, to the electronic device 102E for access authorization (equivalent to in response to determining that the wireless device is connected to the general network, transmit, to the wireless device via the general network, first credentials configured to enable the wireless device to access a first private network).
Regarding claim 11, this claim has similar limitations to those of claim 1. Therefore, it is rejected under Head for the same reasons as set forth in the rejection of claim 1. The residential access point 102A-fig.1 comprising one or more processors; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions (not shown), which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform the claimed steps.
Regarding claim 15, this claim has similar limitations to those of claim 1. Therefore, it is rejected under Head for the same reasons as set forth in the rejection of claim 1. The residential access point 102A-fig.1 and the residential gateway 108-fig. 1 are different networks. Also, access to the private network, e.g., APN1, is controlled by the residential access point 102A.
Allowable subject matter
4. Claims 2-10, 12-14 and 16-20 are rejected based on their dependency, would be allowable if rewritten or amended to include all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Conclusion
5. The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. Zakaria (US 2016/0294828); Danial-Wayman et al. (US 2016/0117874) are cited and considered pertinent to the instant specification.
