Office Action

§112
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112 The following is a quotation of the first paragraph of 35 U.S.C. 112(a): (a) IN GENERAL.—The specification shall contain a written description of the invention, and of the manner and process of making and using it, in such full, clear, concise, and exact terms as to enable any person skilled in the art to which it pertains, or with which it is most nearly connected, to make and use the same, and shall set forth the best mode contemplated by the inventor or joint inventor of carrying out the invention. The following is a quotation of the first paragraph of pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112: The specification shall contain a written description of the invention, and of the manner and process of making and using it, in such full, clear, concise, and exact terms as to enable any person skilled in the art to which it pertains, or with which it is most nearly connected, to make and use the same, and shall set forth the best mode contemplated by the inventor of carrying out his invention. Claims 1 and 19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(a) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), first paragraph, because the specification, while being enabling for setting Na bits in a SIG field of the PPDU to indicate the pre-FEC padding factor value if the factor value is greater than 2, does not reasonably provide enablement for a pre-FEC padding factor value in a range between 1 and 7. The specification does not enable any person skilled in the art to which it pertains, or with which it is most nearly connected, to use the invention commensurate in scope with these claims. If Na is an integer greater than 2, and the Na bits is set in the SIG field of the PPDU to indicate the pre-FEC padding factor value, then no Na bits can be set to indicate the pre-FEC factor value if the pre-FEC factor value is between 1 and 7 because for pre-FEC padding factor values between 1-7, Na will be between 0 and 2. Claims 2-18 and 20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(a) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), first paragraph, by virtue of being dependent on claims 1 and 19 respectively. Conclusion The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. Yu et al US 20220053371 discloses determining an amount and type of padding for a PPDU. Lee et al US 10,805,956 discloses setting a pre-FEC padding factor value field in HE-SIG-A field of a HE PPDU (high-efficiency PPDU). Yu et al US 20240235722 discloses determining a pre-FEC padding factor based on a packet extension field and nominal packet padding capability of a receiver. Hu et al US 20240023019 discloses determining padding bits based on pre-FEC factor.
