DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claim 1 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) and 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by U.S. Patent Pub. 2015/0109077 (“Tomimbang”).
Claim 1
Tomimbang discloses a transducer coupled to an analog sensor, a positive and a negative differential line, and a strobe line, said transducer comprising: a) a transducer identifier circuit configured to conduct a first electrical impulse between said positive and said negative differential lines for a limited duration and in response to a signal on said strobe line (paragraph [0087], differential current transformer sensor), said transducer identifier circuit comprising a transducer identifier trigger circuit (paragraph [0087], trigger signal), a transducer identifier coupling circuit (paragraph [0088], coupler 157), and a transducer identifier conduction circuit, said transducer identifier conduction circuit having a thyristor with a gate receiving an output signal of said transducer identifier trigger circuit (paragraph [0076]); and b) a sensor value circuit configured to selectively conduct a second electrical impulse between said positive and said negative differential lines for a limited duration and in response to a signal from said analog sensor, said sensor value circuit comprising a sensor value trigger circuit, a sensor value coupling circuit, and a sensor value conduction circuit, said sensor value conduction circuit having a thyristor with a gate receiving an output signal of said sensor value trigger circuit (paragraph [0191]); wherein said transducer identifier circuit is preconfigured to conduct said first electrical impulse at a first time relative to said signal on said strobe line, and wherein said sensor value circuit conducts said second electrical impulse at a second time (i) relative to said first electrical impulse and (ii) corresponding to a magnitude of said analog sensor signal (paragraph [0186]).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 2-9 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter: the present application relates in general to a transducer coupled to an analog sensor, a positive and negative differential line, and a strobe line, the transducer including a transducer identifier circuit; and a sensor value circuit. The cited art, U.S. Patent Pub. 2015/0109077 (“Tomimbang”), discloses a similar transducer coupled to an analog sensor, a positive and negative differential line, and a strobe line, the transducer including a transducer identifier circuit; and a sensor value circuit. However, the cited art does not appear to explicitly disclose or suggest the transducer includes a specific structure of the transducer identifier coupling circuit and sensor coupling circuit; or a monostable timer. Thus, the specific structure of the transducer, as required by the claimed invention, is not provided by the cited art.
