Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action:
A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made.
Claim(s) 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, and 17 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over BALDEMAIR WO 2024228643 in view of Su US 20200153529 and MENZEL CN 111886816.
Regarding claim 1, 8, and 15, BALDEMAIR teaches a method, comprising:
receiving service data (data block may refer to a code block, pg. 21 line 736);
performing encapsulation (encapsulating, pg. 22 line 738), rate matching (rate matching, pg. 22 line 773), and timeslot multiplexing (time domain multiplex, pg. 23 line 812) on the service data by code block to obtain an intermediate frame that carries the service data;
mapping the intermediate frame that carries the service data to an optical transport network (OTN) frame (optically transmissive material, pg. 35 line 1248); and
BALDEMAIR is silent on sending the OTN frame, wherein a size of at least one code block is a size of a plurality of bytes, the at least one code block comprises first information, the first information indicates a code block type of the at least one code block, and wherein when the code block type of the at least one code block is an overhead code block or a rate adaptation code block , the at least one code block further comprises second information, and the second information indicates a timeslot multiplexing layer at which the at least one code block is located.
Su teaches sending the OTN frame, wherein a size of at least one code block is a size of a plurality of bytes, the at least one code block comprises first information, the first information indicates a code block type of the at least one code block, and wherein when the code block type of the at least one code block is an overhead code block or a rate adaptation code block (By parsing this field, a location of an overhead code
block unit included in the payload area of the OSC frame may be learned, and overhead type information of an overhead born by the overhead code block unit may also be learned, [0121]).
Furthermore, MENZEL makes obvious the limitation the at least one code block further comprises second information, and the second information indicates a timeslot multiplexing layer / location at which the at least one code /data block is located (FIG. 4A shows one embodiment of the LTE/xG frame, which is similar to the LTE/xG frame in FIG. 4. In this case, the frame only contains a media radio subframe (MBSFN or eMBMS subframe). In this embodiment, only four multiplexed multiplexes of one or more radio information signals are included in the media radio sub-frame, labeled 401, 402, 403, and 404 in the accompanying drawings. This means that the media radio sub-frame 3 to 10 empty in this case. The BIM channel PBIMCH is also included in the first media radio sub-frame of the frame, and the first control signal BIM comprises four sub-control signals 408, 410, 412, and 414. These sub-control signals indicate the location of the multiplexed encoded data block in the LTE/xG frame).
Therefore it would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art before the effective filing date of the claimed invention, to modify the system of BALDEMAIR by sending the OTN frame, wherein a size of at least one code block is a size of a plurality of bytes, the at least one code block comprises first information, the first information indicates a code block type of the at least one code block, and wherein when the code block type of the at least one code block is an overhead code block or a rate adaptation code block, the at least one code block further comprises second information, and the second information indicates a timeslot multiplexing layer at which the at least one code block is located, as suggested by MENZEL. This modification would benefit the system by providing necessary code block information.
Regarding claims 3, 10, and 17, the second information occupies n bits, and n is any positive integer from 1 to 8. This is an obvious implementation in view of MENZEL.
Claim(s) 7, 14 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over the combination BALDEMAIR, Su, and MENZEL as applied to claim 1, 8 above, and further in view of Paaske US 20060107032.
The combination is silent on the size of the at least one code block is 64, 128, 192, 240, or 256 bytes.
Paaske teaches the size of a code block is commonly 256 bytes ([0191]).
Therefore it would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art before the effective filing date of the claimed invention, to modify the system of the combination by the size of the at least one code block is 256 bytes, as shown by Paaske. This modification would benefit the system since adhering to industry standards with allow the system of the combination to be easily integrated into larger systems.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 2, 4-6, 9, 11-13, 16, and 18-20 objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
