Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Specification
The application has not been checked to the extent necessary to determine the presence of all possible typographical and grammatical errors. Applicant’s cooperation is requested in correcting any errors of which he/she may become aware in the application.
The Information Disclosure Statements filed 12/11/2024 has been considered.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 3, 4, 7, 8 and 19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Claim 3 on line recites “each of the second compressed input data”. This limitation is unclear as there is no mention of two or more second compressed input data. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim 4 recites on line 2 the limitation “the same number of pieces”. It is unclear what this is referring to, as there is no prior mention of “number of pieces. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim 7 recites on line 7 the limitation “the output data and the output data”. This limitation is unclear. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim 8 recites on line 3 the limitation “a convolution algorithm based on a small array”. It is unclear what a small array is referring to. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim 8 recites on lines 4-5 the limitation “a start element, and an end element, of the compressed weight data, control the input…”. This limitation is unclear. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim 19 recites on line 4 the limitation “comprises composing the second compressed input data”. It is unclear what composing the second compressed input data is referring to. Clarification and/or correction are required.
Claim Objections
Claims 6, 15 and 19 are objected to because of the following informalities:
. Claim 6 on line 7 recites the limitation “the same row index”. There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim
Claim 6 on line 8 recites the limitation “the same compressed input data”. There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim.
Claim 15 on line 4 recites the limitation “the same number of pieces”. There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim.
Claim 19 on line 5 recites the limitation “the same remainder value”. There is insufficient antecedent basis for this limitation in the claim.
Claims 6-8 are also rejected due to their direct or indirect dependency on claim 4; and, claim 20 is also rejected due to its dependency on claim 19.
Citation of Relevant Prior Art
The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure:
Lamb et al (US 12,210,958) teach a processing circuit comprising: a computing circuit configured to generate output data for a first layer in an artificial neural network (ANN), the generating output data for the first layer including performing a convolution operation based on input data of the first layer and weight data of the first layer; and a compressing circuit configured to compress the output data of the first layer.
