Office Action

§112
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Priority Acknowledgment is made of applicant’s claim for foreign priority under 35 U.S.C. 119 (a)-(d). The certified copy of TW113138965 filed on 10/14/2024 has been received/retrieved by the office. Information Disclosure Statement The information disclosure statement (IDS) submitted on 12/16/2024 has been considered by the examiner. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b): (b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention. The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph: The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention. Claim 8 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention. Regarding claim 8, the claim recites term “the power delivery controller” which renders the claim indefinite, as there is a lack of antecedent basis for said term. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 1-7 and 9 are allowed. Regarding claims 1 and 9, none of the prior art of record alone or in combination thereof discloses or renders obvious all of the claimed limitation recited in the claims, for example: a first O-ring diode circuit, coupled to the buck circuit, a first alternative power path, and the embedded controller; and a second O-ring diode circuit, coupled to the boost circuit, a second alternative power path, and a system device, wherein the system device is activated and powered based on the second voltage, the system device that is activated provides a first alternative power source on the first alternative power path, and provides a second alternative power source on the second alternative power path, wherein, after the system device is activated, the first O-ring diode circuit supplies the first alternative power source to the embedded controller, the second O-ring diode circuit supplies the second alternative power source to the system device, and the buck circuit and the boost circuit are turned off after the system device is activated and a predetermined delay time has passed. Closeset Prior Art of Record US2018/0115237A1 dsicloses an AC/DC converter using two different O-ring diodes (¶46: o-ring diodes [110a], [110b]) however, both diodes are connect to buck converters as shown in Fig.1B) therefore, does not consider the use of a boost circuit. Furthermore, the prior art does not disclose the operation of the system device as required by the claim. Regarding claims 2-7, the claims are allowed based upon dependency of allowed independent claim 1 and may not be allowable when presented independently without all the claimed limitation of the base claim. Claim 8 would be allowable if rewritten to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action and to include all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims. Any comments considered necessary by applicant must be submitted no later than the payment of the issue fee and, to avoid processing delays, should preferably accompany the issue fee. Such submissions should be clearly labeled “Comments on Statement of Reasons for Allowance.” Conclusion Any inquiry concerning this communication or earlier communications from the examiner should be directed to RAYMOND R CHAI whose telephone number is (571)270-0576. The examiner can normally be reached M-F 9:30AM-5:00PM. Examiner interviews are available via telephone, in-person, and video conferencing using a USPTO supplied web-based collaboration tool.
