Office Action

§102 §103
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . The application has not been checked to the extent necessary to determine the presence of all possible typographical and grammatical errors. Applicant’s cooperation is requested in correcting any errors of which he/she may become aware in the application. The Information Disclosure Statements filed 07/08/2025 and 04/17/2026 has been considered. DETAILED ACTION Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claims (2), (20) and (21) are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Korva (US 9,203,154). Regarding claim 2, Korva teaches in figures (1A), (1B), (1C) and (6a) an antenna comprising: a body portion comprising: a front face (upper surface 11); a top edge (2nd end/edge 10b); a first side edge (2b); and, a second side edge (2c) opposite the first side edge; a head portion (60a) extending from the body portion at or near the top edge (2nd end/edge 10b); a first arm (14a1) extending from the first side edge (2b); and, a second arm (14b1) extending from the second side edge (2c). Regarding claim 20, Korva teaches in figures (1A), (1B), (1C) and (6a) an antenna comprising: a body portion; a head portion including components (60a) and (60b) extending from the body portion (structure of figures (1a), (1b), (6a) at or near a top of the body portion; a first arm (14a1) extending from a left side of the body portion; and a second arm (14b1) extending from a right side of the body portion. Regarding claim 21, Korva teaches in figures (1A), (1B), (1C) and (6a) an antenna comprising: a body portion (structure of figures (1a), (1b), (6a); a head portion including components (60a) and (60b) extending from the body portion at or near a top of the body portion; and at least one arm (14a1) extending from a side of the body portion. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action: A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made. Claims 7 and 9 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Korva (US 9,203,154). Regarding claims 7 and 9, Korva teaches the essential features of the claimed invention, as set forth above, except for the antenna system comprising a modified printed inverted-F antenna and a dual-band monopole antenna. However, these limitations are obvious because the type of antennas selected in the design of an antenna system is a function of a target application. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 3-6, 8 and 10-19 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
