Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
Claims 34-43 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Claim 34 recites on line 6 the limitation “the input data block according to one of the following”. This limitation is unclear. It is unclear what is to be done to the input data block. Clarification and correction are required.
Claims 35-43 are also rejected due to their dependency on independent claim 34 which is herein rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b).
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 24 and 34 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Pan (CN 114337678 A).
Regarding claim 24, Pan teaches in figures (2), (3) a method comprising: obtaining an input data block (S32); and, processing the input data block according to one of the following methods: delta-compressing (S33; [n0008]) one or more target data blocks by using the input data block as a compression dictionary, i.e. by comparing the reference data block to the input data block, as known in the art, wherein each target data block is one of processed data blocks (the target data block is the newly processed data block).
Regarding claim 34, Pan teaches in figures (2), (3) an electronic device comprising: at least one processor (10); and, a memory (20) storing instructions that are executable by the at least one processor, wherein execution of the instructions enables the electronic device to: obtain an input data block (S32); and, processing the input data block according to one of the following: delta-compress (S33; [n0008]) one or more target data blocks by using the input data block as a compression dictionary, i.e. by comparing the reference data block to the input data block, as known in the art, wherein each of the one or more target data blocks is one of processed data blocks (the target data block is the newly processed data block).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 25-33 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Claims 35-43 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims and amended to overcome the U.S.C. 112(b) rejection set forth in this office action.
