Office Action

§102
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 In the event the determination of the status of the application as subject to AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103 (or as subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 102 and 103) is incorrect, any correction of the statutory basis (i.e., changing from AIA to pre-AIA ) for the rejection will not be considered a new ground of rejection if the prior art relied upon, and the rationale supporting the rejection, would be the same under either status. The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claim(s) 1 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Bottger (US20200165041). 1. Bottger teaches a jar lid (Fig. 1) for sealing a mason jar, the jar lid comprising: a separate annular lid component (30) and a separate circular lid component (20) removably and rotatably disposed within the annular lid component, wherein the separate annular lid component defines a central circular opening (through 30) having a central diameter (in the below annotated Fig), and wherein the separate circular lid component comprises an upper surface (in the below annotated Fig) having a upper surface diameter greater than the central diameter, the separate circular lid further comprising a bottom surface (in the below annotated Fig) having a bottom surface diameter greater than the central diameter, and wherein the combined annular lid component and circular lid component are retained to the mason jar using a threaded annular mason jar ring (40). PNG media_image1.png 701 750 media_image1.png Greyscale Allowable Subject Matter The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter: Regarding claim 2, the prior art does not disclose the two discs together with the vents, in light of the other claim limitations of claim 2.
