Office Action

§112
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claim Objections Claims 15 and 16 are objected to under 37 CFR 1.75 as being a substantial duplicate of claim 1. When two claims in an application are duplicates or else are so close in content that they both cover the same thing, despite a slight difference in wording, it is proper after allowing one claim to object to the other as being a substantial duplicate of the allowed claim. See MPEP § 608.01(m). Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b): (b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention. The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph: The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention. Claims 1 – 20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention. As to claims 1, 8 and 15, it is unclear what is meant by the phrase “a larger range of voltages at lower precision steps”? What are lower precision steps? What is the range of voltages? Claims 2 - 7 are rejected by virtue of their dependency on claim 1. Claims 9 - 14 are rejected by virtue of their dependency on claim 8. Claims 16 - 20 are rejected by virtue of their dependency on claim 15. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 1 - 20 would be allowable if rewritten or amended to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action. Prior Art of Record The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant s disclosure. Gope et al. (2024/0319278) is cited for its disclosure of a fault detection in a battery system. Ogirko (2024/0295612) is cited for its disclosure of a voltage measurement channel calibration for battery management systems. Lee et al. (2020/0028219) is cited for its disclosure of a fault-tolerant electronic battery sensing. Walker et al. (7,403,030) is cited for its disclosure of using parametric measurement units as a source of power for a device under test.
