§102
DETAILED ACTION Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102 The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claim(s) 1, 10, and 11 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being disclosed by Kondo (JP2016210530). Kondo discloses the invention including: a driver 16 comprising a rotary shaft 25 on which a bobbin 11 is detachably mounted; a traverse 18 configured to move an attachment point of a wire 17 with respect to the bobbin; and a sensor 20 and 23 configured to measure a distance (calculates an inversion position of the traverser of the bobbin 11) between the driver and the bobbin; wherein the sensor is configured to transmit a distance sensing signal in a direction parallel (see Fig. 1) to the rotary shaft; wherein the cutting device is using a multi-wire (see Fig. 1). Allowable Subject Matter Claims 12-16 are allowed. Claims 2-9 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
