Office Action

§103
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action: A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made. 1. Claims 1-2, 12-13 and 18-19 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Rahman (US 2020/0091982) in view of Zhao (CN 118054820). 2. As per claim 1, Rahman teaches a transmitting device, comprising: a processor (Rahman, Fig. 2 item 255); a transceiver (Rahman, Fig. 2 item 210); and a memory storing a computer program (Rahman, Fig. 2 item 230), which, when executed by the processor, causes the transmitting device to: encode target CSI information according to a CSI feedback codebook, to obtain a target feedback bitstream (Rahman, Fig. 14 item 1420); and transmit the target feedback bitstream (Rahman, Fig. 14 item 1425); wherein the CSI feedback codebook is K cluster centers obtained by clustering CSI samples in a first dataset, the first dataset comprises S CSI samples, K and S are positive integers, K=2B<S, and B is a number of CSI feedback bits (Rahman, ¶0111-125. Furthermore, it's well-known in the art to implement CSI feedback codebook by clustering CSI samples -see Zhao CN 118054820 for example Abstract section). 3. Claim 12 and 18 are similarly analyzed as claim 1 for obviousness reason discussed above. 4. As per claim 2, Rahman in view of Zhao teaches the transmitting device of claim 1, wherein each of the CSI samples in the first dataset is a full CSI matrix in a time domain, or each of the CSI samples in the first dataset is a full CSI matrix in a frequency domain, or each of the CSI samples in the first dataset is a matrix composed of eigenvectors obtained by performing eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) on a plurality of sub-bands of a full CSI matrix, respectively (Zhao, Description of Fig. 2). 5. Claim 13 and 19 are similarly analyzed as claim 2 for obviousness reason discussed above. Allowable Subject Matter 6. Claims 3-11, 14-17 and 20 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
