Office Action

§103
DETAILED ACTION Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Status of Claims Claims 1-20 remain pending and are ready for examination. Information Disclosure Statement The information disclosure statement (IDS) submitted on 08/14/2025, was filed. The submission is in compliance with the provisions of 37 CFR 1.97. Accordingly, the information disclosure statement is being considered by the examiner. Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103 This application currently names joint inventors. In considering patentability of the claims the examiner presumes that the subject matter of the various claims was commonly owned as of the effective filing date of the claimed invention(s) absent any evidence to the contrary. Applicant is advised of the obligation under 37 CFR 1.56 to point out the inventor and effective filing dates of each claim that was not commonly owned as of the effective filing date of the later invention in order for the examiner to consider the applicability of 35 U.S.C. 102(b)(2)(C) for any potential 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) prior art against the later invention. The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action: A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102 of this title, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made. The factual inquiries set forth in Graham v. John Deere Co., 383 U.S. 1, 148 USPQ 459 (1966), that are applied for establishing a background for determining obviousness under 35 U.S.C. 103 are summarized as follows: 1. Determining the scope and contents of the prior art. 2. Ascertaining the differences between the prior art and the claims at issue. 3. Resolving the level of ordinary skill in the pertinent art. 4. Considering objective evidence present in the application indicating obviousness or nonobviousness. Claims 1-20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Huang et al., U.S. Pub No: US 20110197200 A1 (Hereinafter “Huang”) in view of Wailes et al., U.S. Pub No: US 20070088897 A1 (Hereinafter “Wailes”). Regarding claim 1, Huang discloses A location set generation method, applied to an electronic device, the method comprising: determining location set source information in response to a trigger operation on a location set creation entry on an application program interface (see paragraph [0020, 0042-0043, 0053], wherein obtaining location information source after user interaction with content and API calls, the API constitutes the claimed application program interface trigger); extracting location information from the location set source information, and generating, by using the extracted location information, a location information set associated with the location set source information (see paragraph [0020, 0042-0043, 0048, 0053], wherein the parsing corresponds to the extraction as claimed. Once multiple decoded locations are obtained, they are supplied to the mapping application as a collection of locations associated with the originated content); displaying a map interface (see for example fig.4), wherein the map interface comprises a map information (see for example fig.4 which illustrate a display screen showing a list of search results alongside a map); and displaying, in the map information (see paragraph [0078-0079] and fig.9, where for example fig.9 which illustrate a display screen showing a list of search results alongside a map). Although it’s obvious to conclude, based on fig.9 of Huang, that the list result display (item 904) can be the set information region and the result map (item 902) can be the map information region, the examiner is introducing a secondary reference “Wailes” to clarify the record. Wailes discloses, in paragraph [0024-0025], a map view which corresponds to the map information region and a list view which corresponds to set information region It would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art, before the effective filing date of the claimed invention, to modify the system of Huang to multiple regions, as taught by Wailes, because the system would improve search results and user experience (Wailes; paragraphs [0004]). Regarding claim 2-14, Huang in view of Wailes further disclose: 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the application program interface comprises a location editing interface; and the determining location set source information in response to a trigger operation on a location set creation entry on an application program interface comprises (Wailes, see paragraph [0033], wherein the system allowing the user to input an address/location (editing interface) ): displaying an information type selection region on the location editing interface in response to the trigger operation on the location set creation entry on the location editing interface, and displaying at least two information type identifiers in the information type selection region (Wailes, see paragraph [0033] and fig.8a-8c); displaying an information input interface corresponding to a target type identifier in response to a selection operation on the target type identifier in the at least two information type identifiers (Wailes, see paragraph [0033] and fig.8a-8c); and determining input information on the information input interface as the location set source information in response to a trigger operation on an end input identifier on the information input interface (Wailes, see paragraph [0033, 0037] and fig.8a-8c). 3.
