Office Action

§102
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Applicant’s election without traverse of Group 1, claims 18-26, in the reply filed on 6-26-2026 is acknowledged. The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action: A person shall be entitled to a patent unless – (a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention. Claims 17 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being clearly anticipated by Hoffberg (11,712,637). Hoffberg discloses a module mounted on a flying drone comprising all claimed elements (column 65, line 57 – column 66, line 8) including a linear actuator unit including a linear motor (column 65, line 64); an inertial sensor generating a signal indicative of the drone’s movement (column 113, lines 45-49); and a controller configured to drive the linear actuator unit to generate a force to cause the drone to translate or rotate while flying. Claims 18-26 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims. The prior art made of record and not relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant's disclosure. Perritt, Griffin, Kipnis et al, McWilliam et al, and Lynch et al are cited as being of interest since they disclose drone and recoil reduction systems. Any inquiry concerning this communication or earlier communications from the examiner should be directed to J. WOODROW ELDRED whose telephone number is (571)272-6901. The examiner can normally be reached M-F 9:00-5:30. Examiner interviews are available via telephone, in-person, and video conferencing using a USPTO supplied web-based collaboration tool.
