DETAILED ACTION
Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
Drawings
The drawings were received on March 4, 2026. These drawings are accepted.
Claim Objections
Claims 1 and 7 are objected to because of the following informalities:
In line 1 of claim 1, “through downhole pressure-boosting jet” should be changed to --through a downhole pressure-boosting jet--.
In line 1 of claim 7, it is suggested that “A use method of” be changed to --A method of using--.
Appropriate correction is required.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 1-7 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor (or for applications subject to pre-AIA 35 U.S.C. 112, the applicant), regards as the invention.
Regarding claim 1: The preamble of claim 1 indicates that claim 1 is directed to “A device” however the body of the claim includes a list of separate and distance devices that work together, e.g. electrical submersible pump, one or more jet pumps, water separator. A device is a single tool or apparatus that is composed of various components that make up that tool or apparatus. A list of independent tools or apparatuses that work together is a system. It is suggested that the preamble of claim 1 be changed to --A system--.
Regarding claim 1: Lines 1 and 2 recite “A device for deep liquid production through [a] downhole pressure-boosting jet, comprising”. It is unclear what the comprising, and thus the remainder of the claim, is intended to further limit as there is no feature or limitation associated with the term. It is suggested that “comprising” be changed to --the system comprising--.
Regarding claim 1: In line 18, the phrase “the outer sleeve sleeves outside the central pipe” is unclear. It is suggested that --the outer sleeve is located outside the central pipe--.
Regarding claim 4: The phrase “the one or more jet pumps adopt a forward circulation jet pump” is unclear. It is suggested that --the one or more jet pumps includes a forward circulation jet pump--.
Regarding claim 7: In lines 16-18, the phrase “a negative pressure formed by a jet driving formation liquid to enter the mixing chamber along the formation liquid inlet channel” is considered generally confusing. Specifically, the recitation of “a jet driving formation liquid to enter the mixing chamber” is unclear. Correction is required.
Regarding claims 2, 3, 5, and 6: These claims are considered indefinite due to their dependence on one of the above claims.
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 1-7 would be allowable if rewritten or amended to overcome the rejection(s) under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), 2nd paragraph, set forth in this Office action.
The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter:
RU 165135 U1 is considered the closest prior art to the claimed invention. RU 165135 U1 discloses a system for producing fluid from a wellbore using a downhole pressure-boosting jet Abstract, the system includes:
an extracted liquid pipe through 10,
a power liquid pipe 25,
an electric submersible pump 3,
one or more jet pumps 5, and
a water separator 23 is connected to an upper portion of the electric submersible pump via the downhole tubing Fig;
wherein the electric submersible pump is connected to a downhole tubing 10,
wherein the one or more jet pumps are connected below the electric submersible pump via the downhole tubing Fig; and
wherein an upper end of the electric submersible pump is connected to a power source on the ground via a power supply cable 22.
RU 165135 U1 fails to disclose a liquid storage tank in fluid communication with the extracted liquid pipe and power liquid pipe, an electric control cabinet, a flow guide shroud, or the claimed details of the water separator. While the features of a liquid storage tank, an electric control cabinet, and a flow guide shroud could be said to be considered obvious additions to or modification of RU 165135 U1 to one of ordinary skill in the art, it would not have been obvious to modify the water separator according the claimed features without a specific teaching in the prior art. The prior art of record fails to disclose or suggest a downhole water separator that includes a wire-wound filter screen, a sliding sleeve, a hydrophilic and oleophobic filter tube, and a spring as recited in the claimed combination.
