DETAILED ACTION
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 102
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1-2 and 12-15 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Gu et al. (Gu, US 2015/0318262).
Regarding claim 1, GU shows a device, comprising: a substrate ([0077]); a first dielectric layer (layer 602 in FIG. 6) over the substrate; a second dielectric layer ( layer 606 in FIG. 6) over the first dielectric layer, wherein the first dielectric layer and the second dielectric layer are layers of one or more inorganic materials ( see FIG. 6); and a region of an organic material ( organic layer 606 in FGI. 6) within the second dielectric layer.
Regarding claim 2, GU shows a device, comprising: a substrate ([0077]), wherein the region (region 605) is at least partially enclosed by the one or more inorganic materials (see FIG. 5-6).
Regarding claim 12, GU shows a device, comprising: a substrate ([0077]), wherein the organic material includes a photo-imageable dielectric (PID) material ([0059-0061].
Regarding claims 13-15, GU shows a device, comprising: a substrate ([0077]), wherein the substrate comprises: a core (glass substrate [0135]); and a conductive structure extending through the core and wherein the core comprises glass and wherein the region does not include silicon (see FIG. 12).
Allowable Subject Matter
Claims 3-11 are objected to as being dependent upon a rejected base claim, but would be allowable if rewritten in independent form including all of the limitations of the base claim and any intervening claims.
Claims 16-20 are allowed.
