Office Action

§103
DETAILED ACTION This Office Action is in response to the Applicant’s Communication filed on 05/16/2025. In virtue of the communication: Claims 1-20, 23, 24 and 26 are pending in the instant application. Claims 21, 22, 25 and 27-29 are canceled. Receipt is acknowledged of certified copies of papers required by 37 CFR 1.55. The references cited in the Information Disclosure Statement(s) (IDS(s)) filed on 05/16/2025, 09/11/2025 and 10/10/2025 have been considered by the examiner. The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA . Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103 The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103 which forms the basis for all obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action: A patent for a claimed invention may not be obtained, notwithstanding that the claimed invention is not identically disclosed as set forth in section 102, if the differences between the claimed invention and the prior art are such that the claimed invention as a whole would have been obvious before the effective filing date of the claimed invention to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the claimed invention pertains. Patentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made. Claim(s) 26 is/are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Obermayer (U.S. Pub. 2025/0015504 A1). Regarding claim 1, Obermayer discloses a base station antenna (Figs. 1-14) comprising a center-fed cross-dipole radiating element (10, Figs. 1 and 11-14) comprising four dipole arms (four arms 12, Figs. 1 and 11-14). Obermayer does not explicitly teach the feed stalk thereof overlaps two of the four dipole arms in the forward direction of the base station antenna but does not overlap the other two of the four dipole arms. However, Obermayer shows that the connecting holes 18 electrically connect a respective feed line of the radiator feed so as to provide a feed for two dipole arms 12 (par [0071]), and those holes are set next to two upper arms 12 of radiating element 10 (as in Fig. 12), and those holes are overlapped two upper arms 12 of radiating element 10 (as in Fig. 14) and does not overlap the other two of the four dipole arms (two bottom arms 12). Therefore, it would have been obvious to one having skill in the art before the filing date of the invention to modify the feeding structure of the radiating element of Obermayer with the construction as taught in Figs. 12, 14 and par. [0071]of Obermayer in order to improve the performance of the radiator/antenna with the suitable frequency range. Allowable Subject Matter Claims 1-20, 23 and 24 are allowed. The primary reasons for the allowance of the claims are in the inclusion of the limitation(s): “… the feed stalk comprising, a first signal trace that is configured to feed first radio frequency ("RF") signals to the first dipole radiator, wherein the first signal trace connects to the first dipole radiator at a first feed connection; a second signal trace that is configured to feed second RF signals to the second dipole radiator, wherein the second signal trace connects to the second dipole radiator at a second feed connection, a first ground line connected to the first dipole radiator at a first ground connection, a second ground line connected to the second dipole radiator at a second ground connection, wherein a first electric field direction of each first RF signal extends across a center point of the dual polarized radiating element when the dual polarized radiating element is viewed from a front of the base station antenna, wherein a second electric field direction of each second RF signal extends across the center point of the dual polarized radiating element when the dual polarized radiating element is viewed from the front, wherein the first electric field direction is orthogonal or substantially orthogonal to the second electric field direction, and wherein the feed stalk is offset from the center point of the dual polarized radiating element and does not overlap the center point of the dual polarized radiating element” and combination thereof, in the claim(s), i.e., claim 1 (claims 2-20, 23 and 24 are allowed as being dependent on claim 1), which are not found in the prior art references. The prior art made of record and relied upon is considered pertinent to applicant’s disclosure. The best consider with this application can be filed in ZHANG (U.S. Pub. 2021/0376481 A1). Prior art of ZHANG discloses a radiation apparatus includes a radiation module, a first conductor balun, and a second conductor balun; the first conductor balun is mechanically connected to the second conductor balun under the radiation module; and the radiation module includes a first radiation unit and a second radiation unit in a +45° polarization direction, and a third radiation unit and a fourth radiation unit in a −45° polarization direction. However, it does not teach the feed stalk comprising, a first signal trace that is configured to feed first radio frequency ("RF") signals to the first dipole radiator, wherein the first signal trace connects to the first dipole radiator at a first feed connection; a second signal trace that is configured to feed second RF signals to the second dipole radiator, wherein the second signal trace connects to the second dipole radiator at a second feed connection, a first ground line connected to the first dipole radiator at a first ground connection, a second ground line connected to the second dipole radiator at a second ground connection, wherein a first electric field direction of each first RF signal extends across a center point of the dual polarized radiating element when the dual polarized radiating element is viewed from a front of the base station antenna, wherein a second electric field direction of each second RF signal extends across the center point of the dual polarized radiating element when the dual polarized radiating element is viewed from the front, wherein the first electric field direction is orthogonal or substantially orthogonal to the second electric field direction, and wherein the feed stalk is offset from the center point of the dual polarized radiating element and does not overlap the center point of the dual polarized radiating element (as recited in claim 1).
