Notice of Pre-AIA or AIA Status
The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the first inventor to file provisions of the AIA .
DETAILED ACTION
Currently, claims 1-20 are pending and examined below.
Priority
Acknowledgment is made of applicant’s claim for foreign priority under 35 U.S.C. 119 (a)-(d). Receipt is acknowledged of certified copies of papers required by 37 CFR 1.55.
Specification
The title of the invention is not descriptive. A new title is required that is clearly indicative of the invention to which the claims are directed.
The following title is suggested: DISPLAY DEVICE HAVING CIRCUIT BOARDS CONNECTED TO DISPLAY PANEL
Information Disclosure Statement (IDS)
The information disclosure statement submitted on 05/31/2024 ("05-31-24 IDS") is in compliance with the provisions of 37 CFR 1.97. Accordingly, the 05-31-24 IDS is being considered by the examiner.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 112
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112(b):
(b) CONCLUSION.—The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor regards as the invention.
The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph:
The specification shall conclude with one or more claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter which the applicant regards as his invention.
Claims 17-20 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 112(b) or 35 U.S.C. 112 (pre-AIA ), second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the inventor or a joint inventor, or for pre-AIA the applicant regards as the invention.
Independent claim 17 is indefinite because it is unclear what “the display pane” is referring to. For the purpose of advancing the examination of the instant application, “the display pane” has been interpreted as “the display panel” as “a display panel” has been recited in line 2 of the claim 17.
Claims 18-20 are indefinite, because they depend from the indefinite claim 17.
Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 1021
The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. 102 that form the basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
A person shall be entitled to a patent unless –
(a)(1) the claimed invention was patented, described in a printed publication, or in public use, on sale, or otherwise available to the public before the effective filing date of the claimed invention.
Claims 1-7, 13-16, 17 and 18 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(1) as being anticipated by Pub. No. US 2021/0247820 A1 to Oh et al. ("Oh").
Fig. 2A and Fig. 4B of Oh have been annotated and Fig. 3B has been provided to support the rejection below:
